If you think that Newsweek magazine falsely reported that Governor Palin did not endorse anyone in the 2008 primary then you should post a counter source showing us that endorsement.

True and let us hope that that doesn’t happen, pal!

Pal? That's a swear word where I come from.

Romney supporters as represented ...

So in other words, you vow to reject anybody who moves to the right because .... ???? .... because you demand everyone be pure conservatives from the day of birth???

Wake up. Many conservatives in the world today were once less conservative .... and in fact many were Democrats.

This conservative movement will die of atrophy if we never allow converts or if we never allow people who were once more liberal.

"I have always been prolife."

OK, that is a Romney fudge statement. Fine.

Got any more.

Or is that your plan... to cling to that one statement forever?

Did you also protest and despise GHerbertWalker Bush... considering that he supported abortion before becoming VP for Reagan in 1980??

No, I didn't think so.

Cut the man a break. He is articulating conservatism.... and if he said some dumb things 10 years ago, I am not gonna go bonkers.

GHW Bush has a reason he changed his mind.
As I said I don't care if people change their minds if there is a reason what I object to is denying that they were something ever. That was the point.

As a side note it is a better strategy to ask a question wait for an answer rather than asking and answering in the same post.

Sorry, your post doesn't make any sense in the context of what I've been saying.

In any case, Romney is hardly convicing in his claims to being a convert. I listen to and read his actual words, and the things he proposes are hardly a move to the right.

So in other words, you vow to reject anybody who moves to the right because .... ???? .... because you demand everyone be pure conservatives from the day of birth???

You are exceedingly obtuse if you think that's what I've been saying.

Here is a copy of the post you respond to here:

[Edit 35 writes:] "More delusion from people like you who wake up and breath simply to hate someone.... someone in the GOP for heavens sake....Those who so viciously hated and destroyed Romney in 2008 gave us McCain .... "

All Republicans and conservatives need to look long and hard at these words by Edit35. Sadly, Edit is not the exception -- he is the rule in representing the mindset of many pro-Romney people on Free Republic. Edit and like-minded Romney supporters dismiss valid objections to Romney, and dismiss civil debate about those objections, by attributing them to motives of "hate."

The word "hate" is one universally used by children, Liberals, and Romney supporters as an emotional manipulation tactic to disarm and put on the defensive those who basically say "no" to them, and to award themselves with the status of the "poor victim" of said hate. Use of the word "hate" automatically disqualifies them as reasonable adversaries or even allies.

Romney's politics aside -- as if the actual words of Romney (please ponder my post 420 on this thread, quoting from about 18 minutes of his CPAC speech) weren't enough to make it obvious that Romney is philosophically empty of conservative principle -- the mindset and mentality of the majority of Romney supporters as represented on Free Republic would be enough to warn any thinking person away from Romney.

Your response: "So in other words, you vow to reject anybody who moves to the right because .... ???? .... because you demand everyone be pure conservatives from the day of birth??? Wake up. Many conservatives in the world today were once less conservative .... and in fact many were Democrats. This conservative movement will die of atrophy if we never allow converts or if we never allow people who were once more liberal.

Huh? What on earth does that have to do with what I wrote? It's like introducing the subject of bananas into a discussion about nuclear physics.

You don't make any sense.

Edit responds to svcw: [Romney] is articulating conservatism.

Excuse me??? Do you actually listen to the guy?

In his CPAC speech, Romney talked about pushing for a global "solution" instead of an American "solution" for carbon "plans" and cap and trade, which -- incidentally!! -- would validate and enable a global power grab, based on a hoax, of independent energy production, distrubution, and consumption.

He talked about how tax on interest and capital gains should be zero for middle-class Americans -- not all Americans, but a specific group defined arbitrarily by income.

He said that "conservatives favor clear, streamlined up-to-date regulations and laws that let the economy work."

He has already said that he loves mandates, and in the CPAC speech, bragged about his health care plan in Mass. in which the government meddles in every aspect of health insurance for private individuals, employers, and employees.

Hello????? That is the OPPOSITE of "articulating conservatism."

Wake up!

you’re distorting what Romney said, which is typical of the obsessed.

Sorry, Edit, there’s no distortion at all. None. Watch the CPAC speech yourself. I did, and took notes. It’s how I got the quotes.

MHGinTN, been really busy so I'm not posting much right now, but I did want to say that as Mormon who was active in opposing Mitt in favor of Fred Thompson, I tried many times to make this point and was hastily shouted down by anti Mormons who just wanted to say what they wanted to say whether or not there was a better reason to oppose a candidate.

Let me state (again) for the record, my problems with Mitt are that he's a late conversion to conservatism, not his religion. I wish we had had an honest and open discussion of that instead of his religion.

Now all that said, I wish he was president now, heck go to the library of congress, pick a phone book at random, pick a person at random from that phone book, and make them president and I'd be happier. We have the worst case scenario now.

For some dark humor, go here (Yes it's humor)

TTYL MHG, thanks for pinging me.

The question you have to ask yourself is why do gays hate him so much.

Why do gays hate Mitt Romney so much? I wasn't aware that they did. Maybe they're jealous of his fabulous hair?

Could it be his enchanting fashion sense? Or his dimples in his smile when he talks about how pro-abortion he is?

Maybe they just can't stand that special way he has with puff pastry? Or maybe it's that they know that they're not going to be exempted from Mitt's anti-gun agenda?

Or could it be that they're seeing green over the cute way Mitt crinkles his nose when he lies to defend the massive failure that is RomneyCare?

Maybe they're jealous over Mitt's huge collection of show tunes?

Maybe they don't like the way he uses his minions to sneakily slam other candidates?

Or maybe its the fact that gay people aren't any more apt to like weaselly liars like Mitt Romney than anyone else.
