Dr. Rand Paul Ready To Enter Primary For Bunning's Seat
WBKO ^ | May 1, 2009

Posted on 05/01/2009 4:53:37 PM PDT by GoldStandard

Rand Paul, son of former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, says he is poised to enter the race for U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning's seat.

Paul, who has been stumping across Kentucky, told The Associated Press that "every bone in my body says there is going to be a race." But the Bowling Green physician said he won't run unless Bunning opts out.

Paul is a fan of Bunning's conservative fiscal philosophy and said he simply wants to be ready to jump into the race quickly if the 77-year-old senator decides to retire instead of seeking re-election next year.

Bunning has said repeatedly that he intends to run for a third term.

He’s a good person, he even has some of his father mannerisms and the arched eyebrow. I think the Senate is too big a leap for him, he should go for a Congressional seat.

Trey Greyson is not the republican candidate until he earns it. There is a primary, it’s not a coronation.

What’s he a doctor of? Unless he’s an MD, I don’t see much point in calling him Dr.

The US house seat now being held by a republican (Brett Guthrie) who just won it. He won’t be able to win that next time around since Brett Guthrie is not going to step out of the way and let him have it. Paul could win the KY house seat easily next time around. It was Brett Guthrie’s seat and is being held by a rat. The republicans lost it in a special election because they ran a ambulance chaser. I don’t think Paul wants it though.

Will the Paul family insist on providing yet another embarassment to public life???? This is a waste of time we can do without. If, as appears to be the case, Jim Bunning is going home rather than running again, the elected Kentucky AG would seem a LOT more likely to retain his seat in the Senate.

What does this offspring of an embarrassing dope have to offer other than being the offspring of an embarrassing dope? Does he want to join his paleodaddy and Weepy Walter Jones in supporting earmarks, shrimpin' subsidies, left wing foreign policy, surrendermonkeyism, anti-Americanism and our nation's enemies? Americans want to know.

It says 2008. Is that right, or a mistake for 2009?

True enough. I would enjoy the debates, but I’d bet Grayson wins.
