Imagine this:

Obozo steps up to the podium, Microphone, two TOTUSs and a one very large lightening bolt.

I think that would do more "clarify" how God really feels about this murder of the innocents.

I'm, just saying.......

“Isn’t that about the time that they allowed non-catholics and black non-Catholic athletes on their campus”

Racist comment. What does someone’s race have to do with this issue? Answer: Nothing

He wants to expand the number of Americanists he recuited last year, so he will have a sizaeable and reliable cadre wotking for him.

That is very true. And in order to do this, he has to make it appear that he is on the winning side; this, in fact, was one of the ways he got elected. He simply acted as if he had already won (remember the faux presidential seal, the "press conferences," etc.), and people came to regard it as almost inevitable or even an accomplished fact.

Unfortunately, his being allowed to speak and receive an honorary degree at ND is part of this image war, and I think it will end up emboldening the AmChurch folks and giving them some valuable propaganda images.

“Obama is a narcissistic sociopath. He will react badly to people openly opposing him. “

I don’t think so....not while he is there. He is much more likely to *talk* as a moderate. His actions later will be anything BUT moderate.

No news. When you google

"Notre Dame" trustees May 2009

there's nothing but a few items about the good guys planning protests, plus an announcement from the ND Press Office about three ND alumni being chosen as new Trustees.

If you go to the ND Press Office for all recent news releases, there's really nothing.

The do seem to successfully command internal loyalty from their leadership, i.e. no leaks.

@@@@@

His speech will probably include some passages that could be said at the National March for Life Rally in DC. These lines will then be quoted by every Obama-loving ‘journalist’ and ‘commentator’ aka propagandist.

Every word out of his mouth is a con or a lie.

Nothing racist about it at all . . . there were very few blacks in Notre Dame sports back then because Catholicism is not a “black” religion as such. By dropping the religious requirement, they opened up their sports to all religions . . . nothing racist about it at all. Also, back then, they allowed women on campus and then co-ed dorms . . .

Actually, as I undersand it, at Notre Dame there are no co-ed dorms: they have single-sex residence halls, and parietal rules restricting any student from being in a dorm of the other sex past 12am on weekdays. I'm told they have an imnpressive (and maybe almost unique) amount of "dorm spirituality," with residents having a variety of opportunities to worship together at the dorm level -- none of it required, but with a level if voluntary participation that I think would surprise many FReepers.

Moreover, I've heard that that over 75% of the students are at least nominally Catholic.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, HoughtonM and others.

Thanks for the info, or lack of it. :-)

You’d think some news would pop up somewhere. Evidently, they have better security than the Bush White House.

Does ND have riot gear? The campus cops will be getting overtime. I wish Obama would be made to pay for this.

Obama will, no doubt, make reference to intolerance in his speech.

Too bad Father Jenkins didn’t honor Dennis Prager. He is much more deserving than Obama, even though he is a observant Jew. He is one of the best friends that Christians have.

This is a wonderful devleopment! Most of prolife graduating seniors at Notre Dame evidently want to join Bishop John D'Arcy in boycotting the commencement!

The Stop Obama at Notre Dame protest organizers are asking us to take this action:

Contact Bishop D’Arcy, THANK him for boycotting the commencement, and ask him to:

1) hold an alternate commencement on May 17 so that the faithful prolife seniors who JOIN HIM in boycotting the regular commencement can get their diplomas at a dignified gathering.

2) Celebrate a Mass of Reparation.

3) Tell Notre Dame that if they allow Obama to speak, he, Bishop D'Arcy, will rescind their right to call themselves a Catholic University.

Bishop D’Arcy’s number in Fort Wayne is: (260) 422-4611; in South Bend, (574) 234-0687.

This e-mail address seems to be the best one for the diocese: it goes to the Communications Director, Vince LaBarbera:

vlabarbera@FW.dioceseFWSB.org

Please do this: it'll just take a few minutes, and it may make all the difference in the world.

Sample e-mail to Vince LaBarbera

vlabarbera@FW.diocesefwsc.org

Dear Mr. LaBerbera,

I just wanted to ask you to convey my THANKS to Bishop D’Arcy for boycotting the Notre Dame commencement.

I’m sure you know the prolife ND students’ groups just put out a press release. It seems that most of the prolife graduating seniors would like to join Bishop D’Arcy in boycotting commencement.

That raises the following possibilities:

1) Holding a Mass of Reparation on May 17 -— not as a slam against anybody, but as a chance to again call the Catholic Community to repentance and re-commitment to the Gospel of Life

2) Holding an alternate commencement on May 17 for these loyal prolife seniors;

3) There ARE a lot of Catholic people who don’t think ND should have the honor of being called a “Catholic” institution if they reject the responsibility of acting like one (re: the USCCB policy for “Catholic institutions.)

God bless you, you’re probably getting hundreds of messages about of all this, but “do not be weary in well-doing.”

Thanks for all your good will and good work in this matter.

I support Bishop D’Arcy and will pray a Rosary for his intentions and for the good of Notre Dame.

[signed]
