Canadian athletes at the 2010 Winter Games will have Canada House. Russians will have Russia House. The Dutch, Holland House.
And now, gay and lesbian athletes will have Pride House.
For the first time in Olympic history, gay and lesbian athletes will have a place to go to relax and watch events, and meet friends.
On Friday, a group called GayWhistler announced it will set up a special club house in partnership with the Pan Pacific Whistler Village hotel.
The free facility will be open to homosexual athletes, their families, friends and fans. It will offer a lounge, television screens and meeting areas.
"It is really important to have a safe space for out athletes, coaches, fans and allies to come and hang out, share their stories, trade pins and have fun," said Dean Nelson, one of the organizers.

Safe?...you mean safe to practice their “predator” skills!
Contrary to popular belief(amd the Human Genome project)nobody is born homosexual! But this blatant lie continues to
foster those “warm fuzzies” for the downtrodden and misunderstood people./Sarc FULLY ON

Now - instead of celebrating national orientation at sporting events, we're organizing by sexual preference?
When will the Bestiality, Necrophilia, Sadomasochistic or Pedophilia houses be erected? In for a penny, in for a pound - recognize one group of perverts, recognize them all.
I don’t understand ANY of the segregated housing, in an international Olympic setting.
It seems contrary to the essential and fundamental idea of the modern Olympics - athletes from around the world “getting together” around the idea of sports and honest sports competition.
I can understand separate practice facilities or at least separate practice schedules, for the different national teams. But separate housing for any reason seems contrary to the “Olympic” spirit.
As far as the additional separate “gay” housing goes, it may be a manifestation of the entire cultural influence of the liberated libido, and an erroneous (in my judgment) decision of the Olympic organizers that they must cater to it, in all the forms that the athletes may chose.
And, even in the area of the “gay games”, I can’t imagine any self-respecting athlete who happens to be “gay” even wanting to establish a record in a competition to which the majority of athletes for that competition were excluded. I think the modern games have shown that such games are unnecessary for the truly qualified “gay” athlete (i.e. Carl Lewis, Greg Louganis).
Their Master Race tendencies prohibit them from graduating with their straight classmates. That would be soooooo ordinary.
