US President Barack Obama has changed his mind and will now attempt to block the publication of photographs showing the abuse of prisoners by US soldiers.
The US government had previously said it would not fight a court ruling ordering the release of the pictures.
Mr Obama now believes the release of the photos would make the job of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan more difficult, White House officials said.
The pictures were due to be released by 28 May, according to the court ruling.

O changed his mind, let's hope this one works a little better from now in.
This reverse is related to a few major issues:
Morale at the CIA and our entire military in that a mutiny would ensue as the pics would reveal operators and destroy future ops;
I am advised that many of the pics are extreme and would be on every jihadist site and recruiting poster; many of the pics show foreign nationals (Israeli and Arabic) helping the "questioning" and would destroy the trust we have with coalition partners;
O needs to have this issue go away to save Pelosi and build bridges with Muslims; O is mindful of the long news cycle of Abu Ghraib and realizes these pics would define him and America for months/years;
O's favorite work is re-elect and he loses independents by releasing these pics.
He has done this on other occassions also....WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
With Obama I have my suspicions. This could have been his intent from the very beginning. He throws a bone to his Moonbats then pulls it away, or Obama feigns objection while really wanting to release the pictures all for political cover.
Even severe alcoholics have a sense of clarity for a moment.
Let our hearts not be elated.....nothing happens without the Obama operatives not knowing 10 steps ahead on every decision it puts out to look good.

I think it will play out just as you say. Obama knows the press will play dumb and the Pubs won’t dare utter a word. We’ve seen this movie before.
Right decision, but it just goes to show the lack of a coherent thought process. He did considerable damage just by saying that he was going to release them.

So the ACLU sues, Obama’s AG throws the case and the photos are released.......Obama wins the conservatives and the liberals. Even if this isn’t the plan, the very idea that these pictures are sooooooo bad that they can’t be released to the public, certainly makes for good spin. Obama wins.

They are right about that. 0bama’s reversal is not because he “thought it over” without counsel, or because someone in the FBI or the DOJ convinced him.

Never trust a Rat and his propaganda machine. Could it be that these pictures don't even exist, or the ones that do are no where near as bad as has been hinted? He has thrown the bone to the moonbats as you say, but by not releasing pictures that don't really exist, maybe he has thrown a bone to us as well?
Sorry, but sanity didn't return. The a**hat knows he is getting trashed over this and is trying to do damage control. That is a good sign because it shows that these leftwing libtards are vulnerable and we have to keep hitting them. Thank Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz for this turn around on the picture policy.
O has been wearing Bush/Cheney like a blanket and maybe he is ready to start governing and stop campaigning to be the head of the biggest leftist/liberal agenda.
Remember that O was trained in anti-government, movement politics and he is finding out that he must go around the corner and represent America first.
Maybe O woke up this morning and figured out that he must now be a statesman and choose between lesser evils.
And perhaps he is realizing that "dancing with the one that brung ya" is suicidal and treasonous on this issue.

Maybe he knows he is going to lose in federal court, and he wants to go through the pretense of fighting against the release of the photos, so he can appear to be “moderate” and gain support from the military. After the court rules to release the photos again, he can say he tried to suppress them.
In the meantime, they are likely to leak to the media, so again he can pull a Pontius Pilate if that happens. Thus he can work to destroy the USA while avoiding the blame.

Uh um uh, I attempted to block the uh photos, but, uh, it was out of my control. It's all Bush's fault!
They can’t release the photos because the detainees weren’t abused.
