-China has installed a secure operating system known as " Kylin" on government and military computers designed to be impenetrable to U.S. military and intelligence agencies, The Washington Times reported on Tuesday.

The newspaper said the existence of the secure operating system was disclosed to Congress during recent hearings that included new details on how China's government is preparing to wage cyberwarfare with the U.S.

Kylin. Methinks a variant of Linux. Hard, but by no means absolutely impossible, to hack.

Look at China. The only difference between it and our founding, is that China is dedicated to totalitarianism.

It has implemented capitalism to a large extent
It is building it’s military
It is taking serious the possibility of war with the U.S.

Unlike the present day U. S., it evidently thinks it’s system is worth defending.
And in conclusion, it’s not rolling over on it’s back saying F me over, we deserve it

well it will be harder to counter-hack them if they ever decide to “officially” perform cyber attacks against us.

A 14 year old German hacker has probably already cracked their network.

Everytime I hear “New Secure Operating System” I’m thinking of some high school Junior who cracks the code then brags about it on some chat room.

The next thing you’ll hear is of some military schmuck in China who’s executed for “failing the state”.

Bawhahahahah!!!!

Sorry...there’s no such thing as a 100% secure network or operating system. Unless...it is powered off, unplugged, sealed in a block of cement and stored in a fresh lava flow of an active volcano OR simply blasted far into outer space.

Wasn’t the Amiga used as the guidance computer of Soviet ICBMs?

It is taking serious the possibility of war with the U.S.

it's long been rumored that Chinese newspapers have, for some time, run articles that a war between China and the USA was scheduled for 2016. I believe, after they saw our breadth of firepower during the Iraq war, that date was pushed out a few years, but is still an objective. IMO JMO MOO

I just wonder if they’ll strike us or if they are simply building a defensive system.

It has implemented capitalism because no one wants to be poor and there would be another overthrow if people were still stuck at the bottom.

I know it’s an old argument, but the Chinese were colonized and ripped off by the colonial powers during the 1800’s and I am sure they are determined not to let it happen again. I think, personally, that as long as no one picks a fight with them, then they’ll keep to themselves.

As for the hacking, maybe if we didn’t snub our computer geeks we could recruit them and then hire them to protect our secrets. We also need to stop treating diplomacy like a business.

Why is beyond me, why not the Brits? They colonized China like crazy, surely they would be a more logical target.

Unless of course they plan on neutralizing Britain’s allies one by one and then attacking.

I think I should start writing novels.
