Feinstein: California prisons are ‘eminently capable of holding’ Guantanamo detainees
YouTube ^ | 20 May 2009 | Dianne Feinstein

Posted on 05/20/2009 11:14:27 AM PDT by RightOnTheLeftCoast

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) states that California prisons were “eminently capable” of housing detainees. She accuses conservatives for “fear-baiting”:

FEINSTEIN: Yes, we have maximum security prisons in California eminently capable of holding these people as well, and from which people — trust me — do not escape. So I believe that this has really been an exercise in fear-baiting. I hope it’s not going to be successful.

The terrorists would probably be in much more danger to life and limb in CA prisons than in Gitmo.

Not at all. The terrorists will quickly make financial agreements with the hoods in return for access to their crime syndicates.

Let’s see. Our prisons are over crowded now to the point the federal government (via a judge) is about to take them over and we’re being forced by the feds to do a massive increase in “health care” for the prisoners (including improvements in quality of life issues). We’re having to release violent and non violent felons early because of over crowding. She thinks it’s a good idea to take these high risk prisoners who require a higher level of services than any other prisoner in our system (that’s what they get at Gitmo and they and their lawyers still aren’t happy. You can imagine the lawsuits they’ll bring over conditions.) Also can you imagine the other prisoners response to foreign terrorists in their midst? My guess is child molesters will have it better if they are put into the general population even a population of high risk felons. About the only place they’d be safe is Pelican Bay or other supermax prison.

She’s a Senator and elected at large. Where she lives doesn’t have a prison near her.

She’s going to have a little bit of a problem next time, though. The sound bites of her calling Californians opposed to amnesty “racist,” coupled with her gun-grabbing (gun sales in Cali have shot through the roof), plus her conflict of interest problems with hubby’s financial concerns (greed greed and more greed) make her a vulnerable candidate.

And she now adds “they won’t escape” from our jails to the mix - I somehow don’t think the voters of California are going to like her using their lives as poker chips.

California isn’t capable of incarcerating the criminals it has now. Diane needs to get her talking points lined up with Arnold. He’s announced he’s going to release tens of thousands of prisoners.

.....the release of nearly 19,000 undocumented immigrants from state prisons.....

What do you think the odds are that the feds will take and incarcerate/deport these aliens?

Los Angeles (Xinhua): Thousands of prisoners lodged in California jails will be released as part of a government plan to cope with the financial crisis, a media report said.

According to the plan, thousands of illegal immigrants lodged in California prisons will be handed over to the federal authorities, while inmates jailed for other crimes will be shifted to the county prisons.

The plan announced by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will see the release of nearly 19,000 undocumented immigrants from state prisons.

About 23,000 inmates, jailed for other crimes, will be sent to the county jails, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

The governor’s financial crisis plan would also cut healthcare benefits to more than 200,000 children across the state.

California needs about $6 billion to pay state bills, the report said.

“We are going to do everything that we can to make sure that we are going to make ends meet, but it’s going to be tough,” Schwarzenegger said in remarks published by the paper.

Send them to Corcoran. The guards used to stage gladiator fights between the inmates there.

Yes, indeed. How dare anyone express fear over having subhumans in your state whose express desire in life is to kill you for their god?

We have the perfect location, Shemya Island. It's home to

Eareckson Air Station

The boys would wish they were back in Gitmo. I knew a guy that was stationed there when he was in the Air Force. Lol. It soured his AF experience. Click on the link and then on the pic.

" California prisons are ‘eminently capable of holding’ Guantanamo detainees"

Why does skepticism rear it's ugly head (in my mind) when I see the word "California" in the same sentence with a phrase like "eminently capable"??????

If you put them in a civilian prison, the very next question that arises will be, on what charge? When were they tried? When did they face a jury of their peers? When did they have a chance to face their accusers and refute the evidence against them?

A battlefield is not a crime scene. You can’t treat military prisoners as criminals and you can’t treat war as you do civilian crime. Moving them into the civilian system is a mistake. They need to remain in military custody for legal as well as practical reasons.
