Lawrence ODonnell on MSNBC: Cheney Speech Sleazy, An Abomination
Immediately following a speech by former Vice President Dick Cheney on Thursday, MSNBC assembled its usual panel of left-wing pundits to tear him down, including political analyst Lawrence ODonnell, who proclaimed: "Well, he came today to -- obviously to do nothing much other than defend torture, which he calls 'tough questioning.' This was as sleazy a presentation by a vice president as we've had since Spiro Agnew. This was an absolute abomination."
Chris Matthews anchored the coverage and had just asked ODonnell: "Lawrence, can he get away with this? Giving a speech that's -- well, it was 16 pages long -- and never mention the main foreign policy initiative of the administration just passed, which is the war in Iraq." After ODonnell denounced Cheneys sleaziness, he went on this diatribe:
He [Cheney] cannot, ever, frame the other side's position honestly. What you saw with Obama earlier was Obama describes the other side's position fairly. He then goes on to advance his position. Cheney comes out and lies about the other side, it's the only way he can talk. He says that Obama will not use the word 'terrorist,' when Obama does indeed use that word. He pretends that all we did was tough questioning. He says that 9/11 -- he says that 9/11 made everyone take a second look at the threat. That is a lie. Dick Cheney and the President were in possession of memos that said this threat was present, this particular methodology was going to come, that they were going to use airliners. He and the President failed in their first nine months in office to pay any attention to the A.Q. Khan network, who he now wants to take credit for dismantling. What did Cheney do before 9/11? He denies, in this speech, that 9/11 changed him and then describes his very specific activities on 9/11, which were frightening for the Vice President. Then he goes on to say that he thinks about it every day. This guy just has to lie from beginning to end through his setup of his opposition's position in order to advance any of his ideas at all, none of which have any proof to them at all.

The only abomination is Larry O’Donnell and MSNBC posing as news or journalism. Put them out of business.

Lawrence ODonnel is a sleazy abomination but he is useful as a measure of damage assessment. When he goes insane on TV like this it is a sign of a direct hit by a whole bomb load. Recall his rabid slathering at the mouth re the SwiftBoat Veterans speaking the truth to power in 2004.

Ah, Beckel....isn't he the guy that wrote a check to a hooker for $1500 - and then stopped payment on the check? (Too bad the hooker sued him and won!).
IMO he's just a sleazebag-for-hire and says what he's supposed to say.
I think O'Donnell really believes the crap that comes out of his mouth, so the DNC trots him out (after happy hour, of course!) to spew the latest talking points.

I'm not so sure either. Cheney sums it up best with this.
So we're left to draw one of two conclusions - and here is the great dividing line in our current debate over national security. You can look at the facts and conclude that the comprehensive strategy has worked, and therefore needs to be continued as vigilantly as ever. Or you can look at the same set of facts and conclude that 9/11 was a one-off event - coordinated, devastating, but also unique and not sufficient to justify a sustained wartime effort. Whichever conclusion you arrive at, it will shape your entire view of the last seven years, and of the policies necessary to protect America for years to come.
It sounds like Obama came to the second conclusion - that 9/11, while tragic, does not necessitate being at war.

Media self-destructing and losing credibility even more if that’s possible. Pray that many of these loons end up in the unemployment lines.

What MSNBC does in broadcasting this vile propaganda is both wrongheaded and malevolent. They really should stop. They’re starting to sound like something out of “1984”.

Larry O’Donnell is the white Mau-Mau and he shouts a lot of people down. He is a tool, a mechanism, a robotic psycho who shouts these grand accusations with all this false pious outrage that is completely removed from the reality. A lot like the Olbermann idiot that Ben Affleck captured so well in his spoof.
Stalin used the shout-down intimidation technique and it worked for him.

Thank you for posting that.
I heard several sound bites during the day.
It is so refreshing to hear someone speaking honestly, forthrightly and with conviction and not a bunch of babbling with weaselly words

MSNBC, which is owned by General Electric, is a daily a anti-Republican hate fest. Why else hire Matthews, Oldermann and Racheal Madcow.
As pointed out by O'Riley last night, if Obama's environmetal and cap and trade policies are passed, General Electric stands to make 10's of millions. The CEO of GE is Jeff Immelt - his second job is to proclaim the infaliability of Obama, his third is to be Obama's presonal masseur.

Obama knows what will happen if we are attacked under his watch. Yeah, he'll go to Saudi Arabia and bow again to their King. That will make it all better.
Practically, the MSM will engage in massive misdirection in conjunction with the powers that be. They will be fighting like mad to retain control in a fluid political situation.
Now what do you have in mind?
