Who’s the source, Debka? NK either did or did not do a nuclear test. If they did, seismographs the world over picked it up. The fact that there’s any question tells me that it didn’t happen, or fizzled.

No - I don’t think so.

North Korea is a peaceful state.

Besides - they’re at least 10 years from a bomb.

So what are you worried about?

North Korea Successfully Tests Nuclear Weapon

North Korea has staged a "successful" underground nuclear test, the communist state's official media has said.

Countries across the region went into crisis mode as North Korea defied international sanctions and condemnation and exploded its second nuclear device.

The underground blast took place at 0100 GMT and was said to be more powerful than their first test device which was detonated in October 2006.

South Korea National Security Council is going into emergency session.

Japan has mobilised a crisis task forces and has pledged to respond in a "responsible fashion."

China's foreign ministry says it is aware of the blast but has yet to issue a statement.

China is one of North Korea's few allies but was resolutely opposed to the nuclear test in 2006.

Confirmation of the test came from the North Korean News Agency.

"North Korea conducted one more underground nuclear test as part of measures to bolster up its nuclear deterrent for self-defence in every way.

The test will push the rogue state into further world isolation but will give Kim Jong Il a much needed boost at home. ...

Excerpted article from Reuters:

South Korea markets hit by North Korea nuclear test

Sun May 24, 2009 11:49pm EDT
By Park Jung-youn and Yoo Choonsik

SEOUL (Reuters) - Seoul stocks fell sharply and the won slipped against the dollar on concerns North Korea's nuclear test early on Monday could sap investor confidence in the South Korean markets and economy.

The main Seoul stock market's benchmark KOSPI fell 2.22 percent by 0326 GMT (11:26 p.m. EDT Sunday), although recouping much of its early more than 6 percent dip. The won was down 1 percent on the day at 1,259.9 per dollar.

North Korea said it successfully conducted a nuclear test on Monday, a move certain to further isolate the impoverished state which argues it has no choice but to build an atomic arsenal to protect itself in a hostile world ...

Let's see:
1. Pakistan, with all its Islamofacist problems have nukes and the Gov is fighting just to maintain control of those nukes;
2. Iran is developing medium range missle systems (as seen today) and frantically enriching unranium while they jerk the world community around. Why? Because they are developing nuke capable systems. The Mullahs want their 13th Imman to crawl out of his well to bring on Armageddon.
3. North Korea has broken the seals on their uranium enrichment facilities and kicked out the IAEA. For what purpose? If you don't know, you are just plain stupid (but thanks billy clinton and not-so-albright...your giveaways worked really well didn't they?);
4. Venesuela's totalitarian regime is schmoozing with Iran, Russia, and North Korea, for what purpose? Western hemis-sphere power, with oil control and possible nuclear warheads which would give them extortion power!

Western civilization is going to be in a world of hurt in the near future, and we are bringing it upon ourselves due to lack of BALLS and feel good political correctness.

The worst part of this growing nuclear proliferation is the unwillingness of our current US Obami Marxist regime to understand it, and Western civilization in general to do anything about it.

I sincerely hope I die before I witness what is coming. However, you friggs who voted for the "community organizer" will pay not only your price, but your/my children and grand-children's price - their lives or at the very least their livlihoods. So I say go to HELL and FRY!

Watch, as Western civilization is either blackmailed by the threat of or actually experiences a nuke explosion in one or more of our cities. You think our enemies can't do it? You're naive.

Want my solution? Bomb/nuke North Korea, Iran, and North-east Pakistan into oblivion! Wipe those areas of the face of the planet. Sorry about the collateral damage, I think its worth preserving our way-of-life and my/our good children. Our Greatest Generation thought the same thing about Germany, Italy, and Japan. We didn't care how many we killed until we won!!!

Then we dare Russia and China to retaliate with our TRIDENT subs sitting off their coast. Guess what? They will want to talk because they actually care about their families, unlike the Islamofacists. They understand MAD.

I'm a realist - we all die, sooner or later. So I don't care who gets DEADED in the effort to maintain LIBERTY and our world-beneficial way of life while we are alive. BOMB THEM INTO GLASS!!!

Another point to consider; the results and technical data from this nuclear test will be shared with Iran. Consider this a proxy event for the mullahs.

Working together, their combined ballistic missile technology and nuclear weapons proficiency has continued to rise. Nothing will stop Iran from being able to replicate this test on Iranian soil before the end of Obama's term.

To which I ask, "Then what do we do?"
