If a male Caucasian made a statement like this, most people would wonder where he kept his sheet, hood, and burning cross. Barack Obama's nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court is, however, 100 percent consistent with his membership in an openly racist church, his racist pastor Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright, and his open association with other racists and/or anti-Semites like Al Sharpton. Here is what Sonia Sotomayor said at U.C. Berkeley in 2001:

That's strange, Ms. Sotomayor. We always thought a judge's job was to interpret the law as it is written and, in the case of the U.S. Supreme Court, uphold the Constitution of the United States. We also wonder whether sexists and racial supremacists are capable of carrying out this duty responsibly, and we hope the U.S. Senate has better sense than to confirm this unqualified racist and sexist.

The GOP need to focus their energy on bigger gains than opposing this woman, and losing any hope of the latino vote in 2010 or 2012...it’s time to pick the fights that matter.
This fight is useless as she will be confirmed, and it’s time to find battles the GOP can win, and Dick Cheney has shown there are some.

Maybe the GOP should point to some QUALIFIED Black and Hispanic judges, not that I think race or ethnicity should be a qualification. Come to think of it, they have a QUALIFIED African-American on the USSC, but Barry doesn’t like him.

She's a member of La Raza. It's really hard to see how she can deny being a racist. The GOP needs to line up, 100% (even the ladies from Maine), and say "We will not tolerate a racist on the Supreme Court".

Education, experience, qualifications -- these things don't even need to be considered. She is not fit.

The Constitution can only be properly interpreted by white males. It was written by white males in white-male code that women and non-whites aren’t able to understand. I know, I’m a white male. If you’re not a white male, take my word for it, you have no idea what the Constitution says. ;^)

True. But that doesn't preclude our pointing out her racist/sexist positions. It would be a breach of the public trust not to ask about them.
