Yeah, Latino/Latina denotes people who are from Brazil, those who speak Portuguese. Hispanic denotes people from Spanish speaking countries. I learned this on an episode of MONK (the detective on TV:)

And he allowed the left to force him out. Republicans always give in. The left never does, no matter how plainly we understand what they said. Our weasel representatives in Congress won’t put her on the hotseat for this, when the left would be making hay. It’s maddening that our Congressmen won’t do their jobs, but will let the left manipulate them at will.
It was not a poor choice of words, it was a comment that revealed her soul.
That comment revealed the real Sotomayor. Her lame non-apology reveals nothing more than a willingness to add "liar" to the label of "racist".
And the statement about making policy from the bench?
I don’t think so. I think she meant every word.
Obama is choosing too many anti-Americans! Just too many!
Will she start picking the right words then, like cracker, whitey or Oreo to help justify her decisions?

The initial meeting is supposedly with Harry, Leaky Leahy and Jeff Sessions and a possible Mitch Mcconnell meet as well. Those are the only names out there for now. Looks like Cornyn or Specter needn’t bother.

Judging by the sheer number of decisions by Cardozo you read in law school, she may not be far off if she had said Hispanic. (Yes, somewhat sarcastic, but it did seem like he wrote every other opinion there for a while. Certainly every case from New York.)
How many honkies does it take to elect Obama and how many will wake up and realize that Obama and Sotomayor are a repudiation of MLK?

I think they call this a Freudian slip.
I also think that it’s very telling that WH is trying to pre-empt this matter. Sounds like Rahm or some such did a focus group. Americans just aren’t going to take well to that sentiment as expressed by the lovely and impartial Ms. Sotomayor.
The pubs should all be hobnobbing this weekend and coming up with a plan. The WH is coming out with this tidbit NOT because they are just trying to clarify things.
It can derail things and with a loyal opposition party that killing little phrase could possibly see the light of day.
But it would risk disrupture of carefully placed head hairs, loss of an invite to a DC cocktail party, perhaps angering a friend across the aisle.
It requires gonads also.
We shall see. The WH is practically paving the way.
