Sotomayor and White Wise Guys
The American Thinker ^ | May 29, 2009 | Jan LaRue

If you believe the myth that Democrats are champions of equality for women, racial minorities, and folks with "compelling" life stories, maybe you've been spending more time tracking Big Foot than judicial nominations.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Barack Obama's Hispanic nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court, is the perfect pick to reinforce their myth.

That's not to diminish in any way Sotomayor's life story and accomplishments, which are impressive and admirable. Still, the American people expect a full and fair hearing regarding her competence, judicial philosophy, temperament, and commitment to "Equal Justice Under Law."

The self-anointed authority on "mainstream" judges, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has already warned that "if Republicans oppose Sonia Sotomayor, they'll do so at their "own peril."

You don't have to be a world-class cryptographer to bust that code. No matter how courteous and respectful Republicans are to Sotomayor, the first and every time a Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC) asks her a relevant question about her judicial philosophy, statements, court opinions (which have a reversal rate of 60 percent in the Supreme Court), the Democrats will consume most of the SJC's time ranting against Republicans as "anti-Hispanic misogynists."

Here's some advice and consent for Republicans: "Get over it."

Democrats are so taken by their munificent minority myth that they can't grasp how demeaned and offended most women and minorities feel about being force-fed affirmative action and set-asides. Most of us believe that we really are capable of making it on our intellect and abilities if we have equal opportunity at the starting line.

I think Sotomotor needs to explain why a bunch of less intelligent white guys should vote to put her on the Supreme Court, with her superior La Raza intellect and wisdom.

Isn’t it ironic she needs to get less intelligent and wise white guys to vote for her to put her in a higher position of power? The great wise La Raza racist latina has to grovel and be phony nice to a bunch of people she hates (white guys) and thinks she is smarter than, so that they will elevate her into the highest court in the land.

Not cool.

I was just thinking the same thing.

And what does she think about unwise white guys already overruling her?
And what about this upcoming case - they may very well overrule her again.

And when she is seated on the court and is in the minority - how will she react to the unwise white guys being in the majority on some cases?

And if a poor latina is up against an older white guy in a case - does the white guy stand a chance even if the law is on his side?

I find Justice Clarence Thomas’s “life story” to be much more interesting, as well as his common sense and adherence to our Constitution.

One of the old former prosecutor white guys will get her to blow her stack during her hearings.

Her temperament leaves much to be desired.

This bald, overweight white bricklayer has also had many rich life experiences that would allow me to make some great empathetic assessments of my fellow man and woman. This rich experience would make me a great addition to the supreme court, in my opinion.

I would even promise to wear the blindfold so that race and gender would not be considered as anything but equal in the rule of law.

At some point white males are going to have to demand equality in the law as sheer numbers are no longer a suitable shield from minority racism.

I don't believe this statement for a minute. Freebies and set-asides are consumed with wild abandon by whomever they are offered to the majority of the time.

“That's not to diminish in any way Sotomayor’s life story and accomplishments, which are impressive and admirable.”

Why does this stupid disclaimer have to be in everything we read about Sotomayor? (Because we live in a silly, feminized PC age)

Screw Sotomayor’s PC era accomplishments! What makes them even REMOTELY special or impressive in America? America is positively ‘lousy’ with men who have come from less and done more....AND WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENT OR ANYONE ELSE! For that matter Amer ca is positively choked with people who worked and studied as hard as Sotomayor.

Yesterday the NYPost did a special feature on Peter Cooper. Mr. Cooper's efforts and accomplishments, especially in consideration of his origins, puts Sotomayor so far into the shade she is invisible.
