Mister Saunders was 13-years-old when he tortured, murdered and then raped his neighbor in 2002.
Due to his age, he could not be tried as an adult. Saunders was locked up until he turned 21—which is the maximum sentence under the juvenile code.

Benny Mora Jr. was only 15 when he and Mister Saunders, then 13, stabbed UNM student Melissa Albert to death while they helped her move out of an apartment she no longer felt safe in because of a break-in.
The boys... were being investigated for an unrelated case of burglary by the Albuquerque Police Department when investigators noticed a similarity in the cases...
Daniel Albert, Melissa’s father, is trying to collaborate with state lawmakers to change the juvenile code to permit life imprisonment for juveniles convicted of horrendous crimes.
Mora has remained firm in his testimony that it was Saunders who murdered Albert

University of New Mexico officials said they were blindsided Thursday when a state agency brought a 16-year-old convicted killer to campus for a student recruitment event.
Mister Saunders, who admitted murdering a 34-year-old UNM student in 2002, attended a welcome ceremony at UNM’s Student Union Building in the custody of Children, Youth and Families Department personnel.

Mora held Albert’s arms behind her as Saunders plunged a kitchen knife into her throat and stabbed her 13 times. DNA evidence also showed that Saunders raped Albert as she was dying.

7-8 years is about average for murder these days.
Now, if he ever commits ANY other crime, lock his azz up for life w/o parole.
Rumor has it that he plans to summer in Martha’s Vineyard this year.And the nation’s glitterati will be thrilled to have him.
What a sickening story. Yet advocates for criminals say the US is barbaric because we imprison children, and nonsense like that. So shall we take bets on how long it is before he commits a violent crime again?? And when it happens we will hear the usual recriminations and there will be hand wringing over how “the system” failed.
Seven years goes by so fast in our fast paced world this was probably no punishment at all.

One who hasn’t quite got the balls to name the kid “Master,” I suppose.
Back in the late ‘80s in southern Mass. or RI, a black 13 y.o. raped and killed a white neighbor, a year later killed another white neighbor and her two little girls, hacking them so badly the police couldn’t tell their sex. He was only eligible to be sentenced until he was 18 and his fellow thugs cheered him as he went to prison.
We moved to another state, so I never read anything about his release.
Unchristian and uncharitable of me, but I hope he died young.
So we wait until he murders again to lock him back up? Obviously some must think his worthless hide is more valued than any other human being.
