Although I’ve noticed it for a long time, I’m really getting fed up with liberal talking heads who try to “win” a debate by talking over the other party, screaming, changing the subject, etc. I am seriously interested in the liberal perceptions on a variety of subjects, and Fox is pretty good about having someone from the left on most issues. But when all they do is rant and scream, I use the old mute button.

I think a 25% tax on employer provided health care would be the thing that would make my liberal friends angry, finally. That would hit most of them in the pocketbook (and most of them, while liberal, will not take kindly to THEIR income being slashed). At least that’s what I predict.

So far all he's done is spend, so naturally the liberals are happy. Now the second shoe's going to drop... taxes to pay for the spending. They won't like that part.

Add the deductable and you could be looking at $6500 per year.... But...those that sit in they "cribs", beat they _itches, and smoke crack all day get it free....Yea...that's the tcket! Whats with that BS?

So, does this encourage employers to drop their employee health insurance?

That may be the whole intent, in order to force people on to a national goobermint run program.
In my case since I am self employed, and have a small business plan through a major insurer, do I pay taxes on the premiums coming out of MY POCKET?

"Depending on the coverage that could be anywhere from $1,000 to $3,500 in TAX.

Yeah, that will get the economy going."

^^^^^^^^^^^

"You're being called on to sacrifice"...remember that line?

Note how sneaky this is; they will figure out a way so that the money never gets into the employees' hands. I'd have to bet it will be a new piece of withholding. "You never see it, so it doesn't seem so bad". Like everything else this putz has in mind.

Is there an actual story on FoxNews Channel somewhere, or is the post just your description/analysis of an interview you saw on Fox News?

I fear you are wrong. Many will say that this tax would not be needed if we had national socialist healthcare, and that until we have such a thing, we must get more in taxes to pay for "all those uninsured people who don't have healthcare" (don't you think they would have died off by now?)

The fine print will exclude all union members and anyone receiving the Earned Income Credit. So, once again, the people who actually work and contribute will support the free-loaders.

No problem. Obama said he was not going to raise taxes on anyone making less than $250k. Only the rich will be taxed. Yeah.

This will serve two purposes

(1) This will get more money, we know the dems love that
(2) This will discourage private health care beacase it will be inflated 25%
(3) The Libs will cray about how much health care cost and how the cost are rising

I am a worker bee for a health insurance company so this does not bode well for me..

So only folks earning over $250,000 per year have employer funded healthcare benefits. Who knew?

How does this affect reimbursement plans?

Is it a tax on the cost of the plan or what you get out of it?

That’s what I wonder. We haven’t really talked politics in awhile (I generally try to avoid it) but we’ll see if they bring it up (and then I can point out how they’ve been had).

“So, does this encourage employers to drop their employee health insurance?”

No, why would it?

^^^^^^^^^^^^

IMO it will take the form of a new withholding tax, which will prevent employees from moving around from one who has a plan and thus is forced to impose the tax vs an employer who does not furnish HC and will not impose such a tax.

They are such universalists, you know. It’s not just a few of us for whom they know better; it’s ALL of us.

There has to come a point where people at least peacefully revolt.

They're called "Tea Parties" but I personally think the kind of revolt that is needed, won't be peaceful.
