But, a guy who converts to islam, takes the islamic name, becomes radicalized in islamic schools, and then shoots two soldiers in the name of islam, and he isn’t an “islamist”?

I know that conservatives are upset over Napolitano’s remarks. I don’t like the woman, but, to be honest, I can’t really argue with what she said.
Any of us who watched what McVeigh and his co-hort(s) did in OKC have to be aware that there are evil people planning to do evil things, and they’re not all left-wing, or radical Muslim, or right-wing nutjobs. They come in all colors and are of many delusions.
Napolitano was talking about BAD PEOPLE. I am not a bad person. Rational FReepers —and those who think like us politically —are not bad people. Therefore, she was not talking about us, and we should not be offended.

One of the things that creeps me out about Obama is the dishonest way he twists facts to make his point, the “straw man” arguments he inserts in his speeches that are, frankly, just plain false.
I don’t like it when we do it, either.

I understand what you are saying, however, the current base of the Democratic Party is the lunatic fringe left. The same people who paint us as Nazis (the Nazis were of the left, and Jonah Goldberg’s book Liberal Facism has an excellent explanation why), lump us with Timothy McVeigh and all that. Just give a listen to Air America Radio, MSNBC (w/ Madcow and Obermaniac), and Toxic Katie Couric. Don’t forget to shower afterwards.
