Netanyahu's Speech: Trapped at the Top of the Palestinian State Tree
Mahigut Yehudit--The Jewish Leadership Movement ^ | 6/18/'09 | Unattributed (Moshe Feiglin?)

Posted on 06/18/2009 6:30:46 AM PDT by Zionist Conspirator

Netanyahu's speech this week achieved a very important purpose. Egypt's reaction to his demand that the "Palestinians" recognize the fact that Israel is a Jewish state made it clear that it, too, do not recognize Israel as such. All the prime ministers who preceded Netanyahu had totally ignored this essential fact. If he would have wanted to, Netanyahu could have ignored it as well. In this respect, Netanyahu has performed a tremendous service for the state of Israel and is deserving of praise. Suddenly, Israelis learned that it is not just the stubborn "Palestinians" who do not recognize the right of the Jewish people to a state in the Land of Israel. It is also the Egyptians - with whom we have "peace." Obama's entire ascent to power and his pressure on Israel, all the hostile speeches and political deterioration are not a price too dear to pay to crack the lie of the "peace process" and its stranglehold on Israeli society.

The rhetoric with which Netanyahu opened his speech was music to most Israeli ears. It is also important. It has been a long time since an Israeli leader has talked about our right to the Land of Israel. The problem is, though, that Netanyahu's rhetoric contradicts the political conclusion at the end of his speech. Actually, Netanyahu used the age-old tactic copyrighted by the Biblical spies. They began their speech by extolling the praises of the Land of Israel. But it was just a ploy to cajole the Children of Israel into accepting a conclusion counter to the praise. Journalist Ari Shavit most precisely summed up Netanyahu's speech in his article in Ha'aretz.: "The rhetoric of the speech was right of center, but the political conclusion was left of center."

On the surface, it seems that Netanyahu has managed to alleviate the pressure on Israel and to duck Obama's arrows. But let us not deceive ourselves. The sighs of relief released by Pinchas Wallerstein and the Yesha Council and the support of Effie Eitam from within the Likud stem from – in the best case scenario – deplorable short-sightedness.

Nothing will remain of Netanyahu's conditions for a Palestinian state, just like nothing remained of the 14 reservations he attached to his vote in favor of the expulsion from Gush Katif. But the basic principle that Netanyahu outlined in his Bar Ilan speech – that there is a Palestinian nation and that the State of Israel recognizes the right of that "nation" to sovereignty in the Land of Israel – will cost us dearly.

Netanyahu scurried up the Palestinian state tree in order to escape from Obama. Right now, it may seem that we can rest a bit at the top of the tree. The columns of black-uniformed settlement destroyers have returned to their bases for a short break. But Obama and the entire world are waiting at the foot of the tree. We have nowhere left to run and the branches of the tree do not provide much cover against the arrows that they will yet shoot our way.

As soon as we accepted the principle of "Palestinian" self-definition, we accepted their basic claim that we are nothing more than foreign conquerors in our own land. True, as Obama and Achmadinijad mentioned in their speeches, we came here from Europe under tragic circumstances. But our suffering does not give us the right to rob another nation of its land. The world will always stand at the side of the just. As soon as we recognized their right to a state, we lost the justice of our claim to Haifa and Jaffa.

Netanyahu's speech will intensify US pressure on Israel. Combined with persistent opposition from Israel's Left, it will likely bring about the end of his government and his political career.

I think Bibi did what he had to do, and that he did it well.

There are those to the right of Bibi, and that is no surprise.

Bibi is a secular nationalist. Secular nationalism has no place among the Jewish People.

Netanyahu's speech will intensify US pressure on Israel. Combined with persistent opposition from Israel's Left, it will likely bring about the end of his government and his political career.

Netanyahu has had the misfortune of being PM, first concurrent with Clinton, and secondly with Obama, two US presidents who did not have Israel's best interest in mind. But his speech did contain the two poison pills: recognizition of Israel as the Jewish state, and the creation of a 'disarmed' Palestinian state.

Don't know the ins and outs of Israeli politics, but he probably did as well as he could have with Obama in the White House. I think the Israelis would be very foolish to be the ones who undercut his efforts.

The speech may have played well in Israel but it only further highlights that the the “Jewish state” of Israel is not legit and that it’s days of occupation, oppression, and apartheid are numbered.

The One will be hardpressed to respond to the snug given him and America. Settlements and land seizure must stop, the settlements must be razed, and occupied lands returned to an indpendent Arab and Palestinian people—not a neutered fake state under the oppressive thumb of Israel that Netanyahu proposed. Israel is in no position to demand a demilitarized Palestine unless it is willing to part with its own weapons, beginning first with nuclear weapons, then with its cluster bombs and white phosphorus weapons that it so readily uses in war crimes against civilians.

The US and Europe, the two reasons Israel exists in the first place, will backup their demands to end settlements, to end occupation, and to respect the rights of Arabs and Palestinians within and outside Israel’s recognized borders. American interests are for democratic peace in the region. Israel as it is currently constituted and acting offers nothing but trouble for the US. It is not a democracy, not an ally, and not a partner. It is simply a wayward and bloodsoaked state deserving no respect and no more US military or monetary support. No amount of propaganda can change this increasingly clear fact.

We are not Americans first, respective of laws, rights, and religions, not Zionists. The two are not compatible.

It's always nice to find a "palaeo" who is against apartheid!

You mean bloodsoaked as when the original Commie Zionists invaded "someone else's land" and killed all the "rooted people" (men, women, and children) under that notorious internationalist race-mixing water fluoridating Zionist neocon Joshua son of Nun? He was a nasty fellow, wasn't he?

Some people have no sense of Biblical sentimentalism!

In other words, you are saying that the United States (us) have to do the same when making demands of N. Korea and Iran, huh???

Don't be ridiculous! We and South Korea (and especially the Arabs) represent White Western Chr*stian Civlization and are entitled to kill Commies. The Israelis, however, are the ultimate enemies of Western Man because their One G-d and One Adam concepts uproots autochthonous peoples from their Magical Homelands and makes the entire human race one Rootless Cosmopolitan Whole, which is the goal of Communism (except for Arab Communism, which is good).

Israel and its race-mixing Red G-d must go or else all the nations of man and their various and sundry idols and myths will be discredited!

PS: Remember, the only good Communist is an Arab Communist!

Matthew Weaver has been popping up with his anti-Israel remarks on many of these Israeli threads of late. He sings the same old tune whenever he hops on these threads. My advice, ignore anything he says, as he is an enemy of Israel, not a friend.

Thanks. Although I should have mentioned what wonderful, democratic, non-oppressive, non-apartheid, and anti-theocratic regimes those wonderful moslems have as well. Not at all like those "blood soaked" Jews and their "money power."

To be honest, I don’t care about the Bible. While I am Catholic, I do not care about one religion or another in the realm of politics, America’s foreign policy, and our relations other countries. That the country has had a guilt trip laid on it for over half a century has distorted our foreign policies and damaged our national interests. Enough. The occupation, oppression, and apartheid must end. That it is occuring under the Jewish banner is unfortunate. Calling for it to stop is legit and not, as others write, anti-Semetic.

I do not really care if you ignore me or not. I am not an “enemy” of Israel. No, I am an American and I believe that as Americans (you are one, right?) we must hold our allegience to America first and foremost. I’m sick of hearing people push agendas for other countries as being more important that America. Especially when those agendas are detrimental to America.

America is a great country that is a proudly successful democracy. We’ve gotten past Jim Crow, the KKK, and so forth. We helped overturn apartheid in South Africa. Now it is time to end the occupation, oppression, and apartheid in Israel. Especially as it has occured with our blessing and money for so many decades.

Further, as a American, it galls me that Americans support Israel, a nation that has willingly killed as many Americans as any other in the region. It is not our ally, but an abusive relationship we’ve put up with for far too long.

I do not support Obama but I am American first. Before you trash the US for a foreign country, I urge you to consider your allegiences.
