It works that way if it’s designed to work that way. Everyone thinks it’s headed out 4,000+ miles, but instead it is detonated over the Sea of Japan, and the resulting EMP wreaks havoc with everyone who has anything that works with electronics. That means everyone but the Norks, who don’t have any.

Except I there doesn't seem to be any evidence that has been put out there to show us that NoKo has that capability. It's not as easy as you or I would think otherwise someone would have done it already.

What an emphatic way to dispense

with . . .

the hospitals in question

the birth records office in question.

LOL.

Obama says, “Go ahead. I dare you to hit that vault with my birth certificate in it! In fact, I double-dare you!!”

I wonder if he's already provided the North Koreans with the GPS coordinates.

We already have systems in place, although I don't mind a little redundancy. This is reported to be a test of a solid fuel missile system (the last one wasn't and fizzled out past Japan) and Hawaii is the mile marker (or maybe it'll be somewhere near Alaska, another missile early warning site).

Looking forward to the 4th of July three day weekend fire works.

Actually the known capabilities of the TD-2 barely reach Midway Island.

Unless they are pulling a big fast one on the entire world, including the Chinese and Russians, they are just blowing a bunch of smoke at us, which is the MO of the NoKos....

Hawaii he cares about.

Palin is going to be on her own if they point their ding dong at Alaska.

“should it become necessary, to protect American territory.”

I believe that is is always necessary to protect American territory. Don’t these people read their oaths of office?
I mean, come on dude. If you don’t have that as your prime objective, get the eff out of the way and let the rest of us do your job.

Wonder if Hussein would consider a ballistic missile fired at Hawaii as an act of war?

He’d probably send a thank you note if the BC were destroyed.

The oligarchs in Big China would like nothing better than to SEND A MESSAGE to all the several hundreds of million Overseas Chinese by letting North Korea lob a missile into Hawaii, the home of the RICHEST Overseas Chinese.

That would be stupid. Their goal is to become the world's premier superpower. They do that by helping us to continue to bury ourselves in debt. Helping NK launch a nuke would be as smart as us helping Mexico launch a nuke at Europe.

You can bet that they have taken steps to make sure Kim Jong Il doesn't do more than saber rattle.

Under Ronald Reagan they wouldn’t even dare spout this crap. And if they did, they’re would be an “accident” on the launch pads.

“U.S. Fortifies Hawaii to Meet Threat From Korea”

I feel as if I’m living in the Twilight Zone. Can anyone imagine we would be reading a headline like this if Bush or Reagan were in the White House, instead of the wimp in charge there now?

I think an appropriate response to this nonsense would be to deliver a personal message to Ding Dong: “If you launch a misile towards American territory or attack our allies, we will immediately incinerate your capital and assorted other cities.”

Help? Did I say Help?

Nothing goes in NK that the Chicoms don't know about or control.

Remember, the Chicoms are about "discipline" and protection for themselves.

They don't need to become a superpower.

Oh, everyone calm down. When has a war ever been started by an attack on Hawaii?

Oh. Yeah, OK, that one.

That aside, I personally feel a lot safer now that 0bama has cut the unnecessary, ineffective, and provocative anti-missile program and sent the money we saved by not developing a technology against a threat that nobody has, to defend against the real threat, a Republican election victory, by giving the money to community activists such as ACORN. Can't say just how much better I feel.

Seriously, we might ask 0bama's administration one question - if they had had their way, would there even be assets to deploy? I'm sure they'll get right back to us on that one.

“I thought the same SecDef said that ‘there was nothing we could do’ to defend against the previous NK “test” launch...”

The diff is that Zer0’s political machine knows that the people of America are expecting “something” to be done.

This is a PR ploy to make Zer0 look relevant, although all of us, including NK, know better.

"Of course not, especially if it is a mile short."

Even if it hits one of the islands and kills thousands, the most we will do is send some State Department idiot in front of the camera to profess our "concern" over such a "profound act of aggression". Then, we'll go to the UN and ask for a condemnation of North Korea, and possible sanctions.

It's even safer than that. It is actually about 12,000 miles away in Kenya. Let Lil Kim nuke that.

Correct. They need to become the superpower. NK lobbing nukes at Hawaii does not advance that goal in any way. Therefore, it won't happen.

But since NK has one of the largest standing armies in the world it seems they could just take Seoul with a conventional attack if they really wanted to.

The South Koreans would stop them before Seoul. And the artillery threat to Seoul is somewhat overrated.

Obama and Congress have not eliminated missile defense probrams.

Certain high-end programs were canceled (KEI, Multiple-Kill Vehicle) or funded less (Airborne Laser)

Other more proven programs actually got increased funding (Navy Aegis BMD, and the Army THAAD.)
