Farrah Fawcett, who skyrocketed to fame as one of a trio of impossibly glamorous private eyes on TV's Charlie's Angels, has died after a long battle with cancer. She was 62.

Fawcett died at 9:28 a.m. PST at St. John’s Heath Center in Santa Monica, Calif. She had recently returned to St. John's for treatment of complications from anal cancer, first diagnosed three years ago. Her longtime partner Ryan O'Neal was at her side throughout her final days.

Like so much about Fawcett's life – including her bumpy relationship with O'Neal – her heroic struggle to beat the disease was closely followed by her legion of fans.

Patrick Swayze probably next.....hope not...but the reality isn't good...

I feel bad for this family..... and for all families facing the loss of a loved one so young.... I feel really sad for the family of Dr. Jerri Nielson Fitzgerald....the Dr. who did her own biopsy and treated herseld in Antartica...the cancer finally caught up with her and she passed away yesterday....she was also very brave....even in the dying process, she toured and made lectures about her life, her hopes, her cancer, etc....

she was only 57....

there will be young people that think 57-62 is "old"....folks, being in your 50's or 60's nowadays is like being in your 40s.....health care and cleanliness and proper food and exercize is extending our lives......

so when I hear a person dying in their 50's or 60's I immediately think...."they died young'.

RIP Farrah. I will remember you most for showing such dignity in time of crisis.

Peace be with those who knew and loved her.

When her father, James, 91, flew from Texas to see her [before her passing], she passed him a note that... read: "I've loved and I've been loved. I'm happy. I'm ready."

I don't care how old you are, it's still a tough thing to bury your child.

I don’t think they were ever married. She was one of the first ones I remember when I was in high school that was against marriage even when she had Ryan’s son. I assumed she agreed to marry him at the end for legal purposes? However, I don’t think they did.

Rest in peace, Farrah. I’ve always been touched by the true love that she and Ryan O’Neal shared. Prayers for him and their kids.

She was excellent in Extremities, as well as The Burning Bed and Small Sacrifices. She'd really found her niche in those types of roles.

RIP Farrah! You fought one heck of a good fight.

Say again.

While looking thru all the posted pictures of her I found it nice to not see a tat one and she kept her clothes on. She did just the right cheescake to make herself very appealing without becoming a slut. (pardon the word) Imagination is more appealing that crude nudity.

I did...and you're right, not even close! Didn't stop me from gathering up every magazine pic of her I could find and hauling them off with me to the hairdresser, though! ;^)

You and every other girl -- my parents owned beauty salons and spas and I couldn't make it happen with my hair, either!

It's because her hair defied gravity. If you look at the sides, there is no way that hair can stay like that for more than a few minutes at time even if it's sprayed into oblivion. But leave it to a Texas girl to figure out a "big hair" look that no mortal female can successfully imitate!

Farah also made one-piece bathing suits cool again after two decades of bikinis. That was a big hurrah for womankind -- and a bah humbug for men. ;)

I was just thinking that. She was never given much credit for having any acting skills, even after that tremendous performance.

As someone who lost a daughter in 2004, it is the worst thing to happen to a parent. I have also lost my husband, brother, and mother in the past few years but losing my daughter was harder than the others combined. I know that all of them are without pain so they are in a much better place. It does not mean that I do not miss them, though.

I’m trying to think of the name of the other good movie she did, where she shot her 3 kids for a boyfriend..? Do I have the right person?
