The young Jackson was considered bubblegummish music to us Viet era rock fans, and the later Jackson never appealed either...the forerunner of disco pop.

Then he got weird. I’ve always suspected an abusive childhood for MJ.

So, I’ve never really been a fan of his, and I’ve been an active opponent of his lifestyle, but it never hurts to pray when you hear a person’s sick. It certainly makes sense to pray for his kids now that he’s gone.

Remember the lady with the white doves? El Freako certainly attracted his fair share of nuts. And anyone who’s offended by my calling him a freak, well, all I can say is that any grown man who looks into the camera and says what he did about sleeping with little children, then that person is a freak, and that’s putting it nicely.

Hear, hear.

on a related note, I was watching a program tonight that was discussing Jackson, and someone from Rolling Stone made the point that MTV wasn't showcasing black musicians in the early eighties, and Thriller was the first to break that. Well, first of all, when MTV first started, it was exclusively concert footage of guitar oriented rock, and if I remember correctly, they did show footage of Hendrix. second, there really were no black bands at the time doing guitar oriented rock, so I don't buy this notion that it had anything to do with racism, which is what this guy from Rolling Stone seemed to be suggesting.

guitar oriented rock

You are absolutely correct. If renowned for anything approaching rock legend, MTV is renowned for "Unplugged." Guitar oriented rock.

NO WAY that Jackson could have done UnPlugged. He simply didn't have that level of musical skill. His entire life he was "produced and directed."

I remember when Richard Nixon died. The party started early for leftists. Yes, Nixon was a troubled man. He was flawed and deserved criticism. It’s still unseemly to have people bouncing about whooping it up because someone has died.

There will be centuries, millenia for us to dissect Michael Jackson’s many flaws. It’s not necessary to gather over the bones like a vulture, as if we weren’t going to get our pound of flesh, just minutes after he resumed room temperature.

You said that the only thing necessary for evil to thrive was for good men to remain silent. Well, I think it’s somewhat evil when some good men don’t remain silent for short periods of time.

Thank you for your words. My sentiments exactly.

With a heavy heart, I’ve found it difficult to read through the threads and the many, many awful comments. My peace over this great loss comes only in the knowing that he can no longer be tormented. So yes, may he now finally rest in peace.

I was raised pretty consevatively. I had to have a G rated poster of Farrah. My mother would have ripped the nipple version off the walls.

"Is there a reason you know of, that forbids Michael Jackson from entering the Kingdom of GOD?????

Hey I am not the almighty, and we are all entitled to our own opinions. I personally believe that the Jesus Juice is probably boiling about now.

I'll second your sentiments regarding Michael Jackson.

An incredibly gifted talent.

I liked maybe a handful or so of his songs, but I wasn’t a fan. But his talent is clear, and he deserves credit for developing it. But he threw it away somewhat when he started getting weird, although not to the extent that Whitney Houston threw away her tremendous gift. I don’t consider him a great loss, but I understand that others do. He was a huge talent in the context of his genre and style.

I think he was very talented, especially as a performer, but when considering the value of a person’s life, you have to look at the totality of their actions and behaviors. MJ became very, very weird starting nearly 15 years ago when he was in his mid 30’s. The baby dangling, the weird marriages and their arrangements, the complaints from minor children and their parents, the childlike home and persona, the plastic surgery, and so on all point to somebody not playing with a full deck. I don’t know if he actually was a pervert or not, but I definitely think there was something to those complaints well beyond just financial shakedowns. I also don’t think that his contribution to pop culture has been all positive, either.

“It’s too bad. I heard he and Sir Elton John were working on a collaboration. They were gonna call it “Don’t let your son go down on me.”

Awww, that’s just too good!!

As far as celebrity gossip goes, you cannot beat TMZ. Seriously. They’ve called some notable deaths way early, including Anna Nicole Smith.

Michael Jackson was forever damaged by the explicit sexual acts he witnessed as a young child. His stupid brothers brought whores back to their hotel room where they all slept. They made little Michael watch everything they did. ... It ... underscores the danger of the gay agenda

That's a long way to go, to act hetero to advance the gay agenda.

Seems to me the "gay agenda" would involve, oh, I don't know, gayness.

It’s not just dancing. He was one of the most gifted pop composers of his generation.
