Polish engineer's refusal to convert costs him his life

Posted : Mon, 29 Jun 2009 05:29:39 GMT Author : DPA

Islamabad - Piotr Stanczak did not exhibit the slightest hint of hesitation when the Pakistani Taliban asked him to choose between execution and conversion to Islam. Whether the Polish geologist acted out of pride or religious conviction, he decided to pay through his blood to save his faith, a choice that bewildered his killers and keep them talking about him with respect after his murder.

Stanczak, 42, was kidnapped September 28 on his way to survey for oil exploration in Attock district, of Pakistan's eastern province of Punjab. The kidnappers also killed his driver and two guards.

Militants released a gruesome seven-minute video in early February showing his beheading. One of the murderers blamed the Pakistani government which failed to accept their demands for the release of detained militants.

Warsaw reacted angrily, slammed Islamabad's "apathy" in tackling terrorism and offering a 1-million-zloty (300,000-dollar) reward for information leading to the capture of the Taliban militants who beheaded Stanczak.

Among the militants whose release was sought by the Taliban was Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a British-Pakistani who was sentenced to death for the 2002 abduction and murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl.

When negotiations between the representatives of the Pakistani government and the hostage-takers failed, the Taliban leadership gave the Polish man a last chance to save himself, Stanczak's captors revealed to another hostage, a Pakistani man Mohammad Amir.

Amir - a pseudonym, as he asked for anonymity to avoid possible repercussions - was released recently after his family paid 1 million rupees (25,000 dollars) to agents of Taliban commander Tariq Afridi.

Afridi heads a small group of Taliban in the Orakzai tribal district and is loyal to Baitullah Mehsud, the chief of local Taliban who has a 5-million-dollar bounty on his head for being an al-Qaeda facilitator. Pakistani troops have recently been ordered to take decisive action against Mehsud.

Me too, and of all things, we have a “president” who at least defers to it, if not secretly subscribes to it. I wonder if he’ll have a “dialogue” with the subhuman killers? I wonder if he’ll kowtow to some more followers of the evil demonic “religion”, like he did to the saudi king? Everywhere you look in the islamic world, there’s nothing but death and murder of innocents.

"A stromg man, none of us know how we would react under his circumstances."

I do. I would never trade my faith in Jesus Christ, eternal life, my soul for a short time on Satan's world. It was an easy choice.

I’m with you. I hate Islam.

Correction...it's not "Islam"...it's "I Slam,the Religion of Pieces".

Well the muslims certainly operate under that principle without compunction, it’s known as taqiyya (sp).

I wouldn’t trade mine either-but an easy choice would be death by shooting, or guillotine. Having your head hacked off by savages with a possibly not-too-sharp tool wouldn’t be an easy choice for me, but I’d still have to make it, and pray to God for the grace to get through until I reached the security of His loving arms in Heaven.

We will be seeing similar cases right here in the USA in view of our government’s effort to bring in more and more Muslims.

Given that Poland is a member of the EU I sincerely hope that citizens and leaders of *all* EU countries understand that they are not safe from these 9th Century knuckledraggers no matter how much “tolerance” they show for The Religion of Pieces.

Typical GSM spin. Try to undermine the religious conviction of a Christian.

This brave soul is in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and the Heavenly Father. The GSM cannot take this away.

Christ forgave Peter for denying Him three times.I hope He'd forgive me for doing it once (under great duress). But then,my denial wouldn't be "heartfelt"...if that makes a difference.

He loved not his own life to death. His reward will be great.

‘Courage of his convictions’ — Good odds that he was Catholic, being Polish, which would have given him a strong conviction to hold. Just thinking, a man with no belief would have chosen Islam and life.

a sane and rational country would immediately block all infiltration from countries where the death cult is practiced and immediately expel all practitioners of the death cult.

I’ve been in Afghanistan for eight months now, and from what I’ve seen, the vast majority of people here would be perfectly happy to live their lives their own way and leave everybody else alone. Comparing all Muslims to the Taliban would be like comparing all Baptists to Fred Phelps and Westboro “Baptist” Church. While I admit that my contact with Afghans is limited to the Army and the interpreters and contractors who work directly with US forces, I get the impression that 95% or more of the people over here still look up to the US and want to live like we do - free to worship as they wish, and not trying to force their version of religion on anybody else.

That said, see my tagline for my opinion of the scum who would cut off a man’s head for refusing to convert to their system of belief.

Thank you for your post and thank you for your service. Our granddaughter’s husband was there for over a year and may have to go back. You are in my prayers. Right now it takes a special breed to do what you’re doing.

How God responds.....

I don’t know how to word this effectively - but our choice determines where we spend eternity.

Satan has power in the world but that power will not win in the end. Why? Because - Christians cannot lose if they remain faithful to God. They have eternal life and Satan cannot take that from them - unless they chose to follow Satan instead of God.

So evil can harm our physical body, can torture, can kill - but the Christian gets eternal life and they cannot touch that.

Many of the Christians have had this choice and their choice determines who they follow - God or Satan.

A hard hard choice but would you prefer to give up your eternal life for a few years more in the world with Satan and an eternity without God?
