The DU mindguards are feaverishly working to beat back any desent.

If you read through the thread, there are unsubstantiated credibility attacks on “Faux News”, Freepers and BUSH BUSH BUSH.

Someone even suggested Dan Rather’s downfall was a clear sign of right wing bias because any other lie told about a Democrat would have been forgotten without recourse.

I get a headache everytime I go there.

Who we are says it all: Free Republic.

I applaud Helen for seeking what we love.

"They ought to be hanging their heads in shame.”

With narcissists, there is no such thing as shame.....when will they get a clue?

It is about principle, not personality. The left is all about personality, principle be damned. Here, if someone does the right thing, even if they are the wrong person, we acknowledge it.

I was just thinking about that yesterday. Geoff Metcalf used to emphasize that it wasn’t who was wrong or right, but what.

some people around here are missing the point in helen's rant.

they weren't upset with a certain policy, they were all upset that a non-journalist interloper got to do some fawning and took some much desired facetime away from the 'real' journos.

That can’t be OUR Helen.

The properties (and the style) of the photo say 1932, and Helen was born in 1920, so she would have had to have been 12 when this was taken.

That can’t be OUR Helen.

I cannot personally ensure that it is Helen, I got it off google images. But it looks like her to me and to others, I think.

The point was to try to post a picture in keeping with the topic as I have posted many not-so-flattering pics in the past.

Fair is fair, I believe. And for today I believe that that is Helen. :0)

Just because they haven’t reported anything uncomplimentary (not the least little bit, oh heavens no) about Zero, doesn’t mean they haven’t found anything. (Recall that video in the L.A. Times possession, for instance.)

Contrary to popular opinion, there are still are few “professionals” left in the working press and they must be going insane over the gag orders handed down from above. I’m certain there are “real” reporters champing at the bit to take on Zero and his checkered past but their peers and editors are standing on their necks and won’t allow it.

Just imagine what would (will?) happen if Zero’s spell should be broken and the press worship ends, or even eases a little.

Let even a couple of sincere reporters loose on Zero and this could become a laugh-riot! In this sleazy yet target-rich environment, a pack of real reporters could have a field day.

“Louie, you’re going to Occidental College and don’t leave without the records.”

“Beth, you’re headed to the Illinois Senate and, same thing, don’t leave without the records. Steal them if you need to; we’ll back you in court.”

“Fred, your plane for Hawaii leaves in an hour.”

For the record, I’m a 25-year veteran reporter and I would never, EVER allow a good story to be swept under the rug just because somebody’s feelings would be hurt. Hell no! I’m morally certain there are still ethical reporters out there aching to do their jobs the right way. Count on it.
