A Curios Case of Free Republic supporting Helen Thomas

Helen Thomas:

“I’m not saying there has never been managed news before, but this is carried to fare-thee-well--for the town halls, for the press conferences,” she said. “It’s blatant. They don’t give a damn if you know it or not. They ought to be hanging their heads in shame.”

Obama's administration is arrogant. Who'd thought so?

Is slobbering love affair over?

I don't think so, the media is too deeply in bed with Obama to turn on him yet, but it's a good start - somebody retained some journalistic decorum, maybe some principals too.

No graphic photos, please.

First the video, that led Thomas to go Nuclear: Transcript: Gibbs: “… But, again, let’s–How about we do this? I promise we will interrupt the AP’s tradition of asking the first question. I will let you [Chip Reid] ask me a question tomorrow as to whether you thought the questions at the town hall meeting that the President conducted in Annandale—“ Chip Reid: “I’m perfectly happy to—” Helen Thomas: “That’s not his point. The point is the control–” Reid: “Exactly.” Thomas: “We have never had that in the White House. And we have had some, but not– This White House.”...

The press corps might be starting to sour on Barack Obama’s administration. Ata press conference today, Helen Thomas and CBS’s Chip Reid got into it with Robert Gibbs over how the administration has been prepackaging media events. First Reid asked why the questions for Wednesday’s town hall on healthcare were being preselected. After Gibbs tried to dodge that question a few times, Thomas became involved, saying, “We have never had that in the White House. I’m amazed that you people … call for openness and transparency.” Thomas said that the administration was trying to control the media, and she...

(CNSNews.com) - Following a testy exchange during today’s briefing with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas told CNSNews.com that not even Richard Nixon tried to control the press the way President Obama is trying to control the press. “Nixon didn’t try to do that,” Thomas said. “They couldn’t control (the media). They didn’t try. “What the hell do they think we are, puppets?” Thomas said. “They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them.” Thomas said she was especially concerned about the arrangement between the Obama Administration...

Oh, Dear: Helen Thomas Now Fretting About Obama White House's Control of Media I find it not at all "shocking," as Thomas asserts, that the White House would hold a town hall event tailored to suit its needs, so she's going down the road to Loopytown on that one, but some of this exchange definitely goes in the Helen's "even a broken clock" file. At least both she and Chip Reid show some proper skepticism and awareness of the White House's orchestration of such events, unlike the NYT. What's more convincing than her dismay at the idea that an administration...

Phony, that is, in the sense that the White House knows in advance the questions that’ll be asked, which makes the questioners de facto plants of the most transparent administration evah. I have no big problem with The One putting on a pageant — that’s standard presidential stagecraft in a television age — but I do have a problem with the NYT taking care to note the “orchestration” when Bush pulled this while neglecting to mention it this time. It’s in keeping with the media’s narratives about Dubya and Obama, though, the former shifty and stupid and therefore dependent on...

CBS' Chip Reid and Helen Thomas double teamed Robert Gibbs today at the daily press briefing on the "tightly controlled" town hall meeting President Obama will hold on health care. Gibbs kept saying lets have this discussion AFTER the meeting. Helen Thomas accused the White House of "controlling the press." She said almost all White House/Obama events are "prepackaged." She accused the White House of not "having any answers."

FreeRepublic commonly supports truth.

Helen stumbles across it once in a while.

The devil must have been wearing his parka yesterday because I know that hell froze over. I was listening to the audio exchange and was cheering for HT. It had to be a cold day in hell.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

And she has a face that can stop a clock.

It's become so obvious that even Helen Thomas, a sycophant for the left, cannot tolerate it.

First time I've ever written this: "Go, Helen, Go!"

The point is that even Helen Thomas is disgusted with this crew.

Obama is One Big Assed Mistake, America.... and even she knows it.

Not so much agree as
You stupid old heifer, we told you years ago it was the left not that right that were Nazis and we told you years ago exactly what they would do. You kept supporting the leftists and looking under every tiny rightwing rock for a fascist. Now the left have taken the logical next step in their philosophy(state controlled media) and you feign shock? THIS IS LIBERALISM! Progressivism=Fascism.

Dangit! Where’s my ‘flying pig’ pic?

Everyday we get something new and amazing with this bunch of nitwits in the WH. Never in a million years would I expect Helen to have a Road to Damascus moment!
How’s that old saying go, Helen?
“Be careful what you wish for...?”
