Massachusetts to Ban Public Access to Firearms Training
Gun Owners Action League ^ | 7/33/09

Posted on 07/03/2009 7:17:43 AM PDT by pabianice

Massachusetts' Liberals are celebrating the 4th of July weekend by planning to pass legislation to ban public access to firearms training. Since no one in MA can go to their chief of police to beg for a MA LTC without completing training, this is another way to ban firearms ownership in MA without violating Heller. They are undoubtedly laughing it up over this one on Beacon Hill.

Pay attention. This is part of Obama's test plan to end private firearms ownership in the U.S. (Patrick was reportedly on the team that helped train ACORN to "win" the 2008 election).

I must live in the one town in the one county in MA that’s somewhat conservative and pro-2nd.

My chief’s great, too. Hope he’s with us a while.

It’d be a trick to hold this up, they’d have to stop hunter’s safety classes, and as far as I know those don’t come out of state general fun, they’re paid for mostly by Pittman-Robertson, licensing fees at Fish/Wildlife.

LTC requires CEFS or equivalent NRA certificate, right?

They’d have to change these requirements in law, do they really have the stomach to take that on?

They really don’t have to change laws.. Can almost promise it won’t happen before Dinky’s booted.

It’s a “may issue” state. The ass-hats who don’t want to issue still won’t. The chiefs who do, will be removed by attrition eventually (retirement, relocation, etc)

We should make efforts to have our Boston ducks in a row before that happens, so to speak.

And in case that didn’t make sense - I am sure I must have missed something. I’ll read it again, but.. too much sun, not enough coffee :)

Any cop who hates the Second Amendment is a worthless sack of crap. I’m so glad that Maine broke away from Assachusetts back in 1820.

Tell those cops, “Tough $hit,” by the way.

They’re also trying to get a law passed to allow men in Ladies’-rooms and the locals here wonder why the weather is so terrible this July - it’s an Omen.

The "shot heard round the world," followed a move by the occupying British forces to disarm the people of Lexington & Concord. Apparently, Massachusetts now has Quislings in office.

I wonder what they will be "celebrating" tomorrow?

How about this one ... You are armed(and why wouldn’t you be) walking into Walmart and someone yells “I’ve got a bomb and am going to kill you all” ... Now what?

Run. Such a situation is every man for himself. Can you guarantee a perfect head shot from an unknown distance given that the holder of the bomb might see you draw a pistol and fire the bomb? Can you guarantee that he won't live long enough to fire the bomb after he's shot?

No. Run.

I hope that someone takes this to the SCOTUS...quickly.Wait too long and Hussein appointments will get a chance to obliterate the 2nd Amendment.

The article you linked says nothing about banning training. It bans stupidity at gun clubs like that MG shoot last year.

The kid that got machine gunned was the son of a physician at an event run by a police chief. This was clearly stupid, but the solution to the problem is to deal with the idiots who did it, not play games and write more useless laws.

Among the details sought in the application to allow persons to exercise their second amendment privileges in the People's State of Massachusetts, the application asks how many police officers will be at the event. I assume that zero is not an acceptable answer.

People with real bombs never announces they have a bomb and are willing to use it.

You just gotta know. The local gun shop has ex LEOs as their trainers. The wife just went through their classes and live fire exercises. They are excellent common sense types. Their basic position is you feared for your life or the lives of others.

One of the best tools is a high powered LED flashlight. You can startle an assailant with it, not for long, but enough.

You know...after giving this thing a little thought I think I'm gonna apply for an LTC.As a guy with *NO* criminal history *anywhere*...no charges or investigations pending *anywhere*...no psych history of *any* sort...an honorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces..I would think I'd be a shoe-in to get one.

This should be fun given that I live in one of the most left wing towns in the state.

Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State.

This paves the way perfectly for an attack on MA firearms laws. If the law requires training in order to get a permit, and they outlaw the training, then it follows that the requirement for training go out the window as well, in order to ensure the private citizen’s right to keep and bear.

It qualified for me. I think it depends on who writes the certifying letter though.

Was the legal training anything that could not have been handled by a powerpoint presentation?

Yes ... It was far better. He did have a PP presentation and gave out a book of laws and procedures. pointed to the important stuff to review on a periodic basis. He also ran some demonstrations with his partner.

His shop is adjacent to his mobile shooting trailer so live fire demonstration is just a few steps away. He also had several guns you could try out, and showed how to hold and work with a flashlight.

Very through. As the classes have gotten bigger he has cut back on the live demonstrations,.. just got too crowded.
