State-run Chinese media say police have arrested 1,434 suspects in the deadly ethnic riots in the western Xinjiang region.

Officials released no other details.

The White House says it is deeply concerned over the deadly violence in and has called for restraint.

Chinese officials say at least 156 people were killed and more than 800 hurt in riots between ethic Uighurs and police in Xinjiang.

Monday's fighting grew out of what witnesses say was a peaceful anti-government protest by Uighurs Sunday.

No one is sure what led the march to explode into violence. But Chinese officials accuse exiled Uighur groups of instigating the riots.

The groups deny involvement. They say the violence is a result of pent-up frustration with what the mainly Muslim Uighurs say is excessive control over their lives by the Han Chinese.

The ChiCom firing squads are going to get repetitive motion disorder. I'm sure that Amnesty International will object strenuously. /sarc

I’m viewing this as a popcorn fight. Kinda hope they both lose. I just find it ironic how China can get away with mass arrests, ruthless suppression of revolts, mass executions and nobody says a word. We put underpants on some terrorists head and its war crime trial time.

ARTICLE SNIPPET (from the link in post no. 1):

"Chinese authorities have accused the Uighurs of seeking independence for Xinjiang, where they are the majority ethnic group. Xinjiang borders a number of Central Asian states with large Muslim populations, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The Uighurs say the government exaggerates the threat of an independence movement in order to justify its control."

Anyone taking odds that those arrested were not the Chinese Imperialists who raped and beat their way through the Urgurg barracks?

The Chinese are dealing with a restless Caucasian (Turkic) minority. The rest of the world will avert its eyes, since Caucasians are fair game.
