Defense Contractor Charged With Kickbacks Helped Fund Murtha's Campaigns

Richard Ianieri, the defense contractor charged today with accepting $200,000 in kickbacks from a subcontractor, was president of a company that gave more money to Rep. John Murtha than any other lawmaker. That company, Coherent Systems International, received millions of dollars in earmarks from Murtha, and continued giving money to the Pennsylvania Democrat after Ianieri left Coherent and Argon ST bought it.

The criminal complaint filed yesterday reportedly did not name the subcontractor, according to Roll Call.

In total, the employees of Coherent, and employees and political action committees of Argon and its subsidiaries, have given $81,950 to Murtha's campaign committee and leadership PAC since the 2004 election cycle, according to a Center for Responsive Politics analysis.

Unfortunately, Murtha will be dead and buried before any of his crimes become public knowledge. Thanks, MSM.

Some Grand Jury....probably outside of Penn...will end up announcing that Murtha is being investigated...by the end of this year. I suspect that the party will be pushing him to stop election efforts for Nov 2010...and they will try to hustle up a replacement runner. He won’t resign...and this case won’t hit the court until spring of 2011...which you might be right...he might be buried by that point.

Why again did the good people of Pennsylvania not re-elect Curt Weldon. All that was necessary was the appearance of impropriety that after the election was unfounded. Very bizarre world.

Put a Murtha son and / or nephew in jail and continuously grill Mr. Pork until smoked and cured to taste.

Are you surprised?

The road from Pittsburgh to Johnston is littered with small “defense” contractor “office buildings” - just so a “little bit” of ANY contract anywhere in the US can be spent in Murtha’s district.

Murtha’s not a Congressman, he’s an economy.

It takes the constituents in each “DISTRICT” to stop this type of corruption. Unless they vote Murtha our or the Feds get some gonads, Murtha will stay in office untouched.

Most of all, we all know the Marxist in D.C. will continue to protect this type of rubbish. Thus, one more reason for a Constitutional Amendment for "Term Limits".
