Jack Kelly - Looking down on Palin: Beltway elites can't figure out why the hoi polloi like her

What do Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sebelius and Jon Huntsman have in common? All were governors who resigned this year to pursue other opportunities, and did so without a peep of criticism from journalists or their fellow pols for "quitting" on the peoples of Arizona, Kansas and Utah, respectively.

I write not to belabor the news media's double standards with regard to Democrats and Republicans, or between other politicians and Sarah Palin. I want to highlight an observation made by Princeton Professor Angelo Codevilla:

"The distinctions between Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives, are being overshadowed by that between what we might call the 'Court Party' -- made up of the well-connected ... who see themselves as potters of the great American clay -- and the 'Country Party' -- the many more who are tired of being treated as clay," Mr. Codevilla wrote in National Review Online.

Ms. Napolitano, Ms. Sebelius and Mr. Huntsman weren't criticized for resigning to pursue other opportunities because the other opportunities they're pursuing are in government -- as secretary of homeland security, secretary of health and human services, and ambassador to China, respectively.

In the Court Party, the only thing more important than holding public office is seeking a higher one. Barack Obama in effect quit his day job as a U.S. senator (while still drawing his paycheck) for two years in order to seek the presidency. Mr. Obama drew little criticism for this, mostly because what he did was so commonplace. Sens. Hillary Clinton and John McCain did much the same thing.(continued)

The MSM, 'rat and RINO foaming at the mouth over Sarah resigning, only indicates the utter fear and angst they have. They have to reassure everyone that she is "irrelevant" by reporting 24/7 nonstop and on every frontpage.

Keep the above excerpt in mind the next time you hear someone call her a "quitter". Aks whether Napolitano, Sebelius or Huntsman are also "quitters", and why we haven't heard a peep on them.

The hoi poloi does not get it that about a month ago when vp biden drew less than 100 at a staged event on the stimulus in Erie while Palin addressed a crowd of 10K at a speech in upstate NY that it is they who are out of touch.

Sarah could amplify her message and following manyfold by adroitly highlighting her husband’s status as a bluecollar worker just like the vast majority of Americans. Her husband is the key to re-energizing the Reagan Democrats.

Good morning Mr. Kelly, Bravo, the battle is enjoined. I was very impressed by your Governor Palin article, “Looking down on Palin” , thanks for helping this Hoi Polloi in SC to confirm in prose what I’ve been thinking about Palin since the day she was nominated for VP. Your June article, “Palin Power” was also very intuitive about Gov. Palin’s current change of direction.

As you evidently think and I agree, the majority of American’s observing the inconceivable mistreatment Palin & family has received at the hands of the elite politicians and their media jesters indicates what our ‘leadership’ actually thinks of their voter/subject. The implications of this awakening must have a lot of folks in the Court of DC concerned.

I’ve attended 2 local tea parties and can only imagine what Palin’s attendance at the next round of Tea Parties will do to attendance and relevance!

I can’t wait to read more of your published works, especially pertaining to Palin.
