Early on the morning of June 2, Gov. Tim Pawlenty began calling his political allies. Speculation had been escalatingit was good form to let friends know his future plans before he announced them to the whole world.
At 10:22 a.m., the governor's press office sent out a mass email: Governor Pawlenty to hold press conference today regarding his future plans. Reporters sprang into action, making calls, blogging and Twittering, and by the time Pawlenty stepped behind the podium of the Governor's Reception Room at the state Capitol, every journalist in town knew what he would say.
Pawlenty opened with a sports joke: He'd signed an executive order requiring Twins catcher Joe Mauer to also act as quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. "These are tough times, Joe, and everybody's got to dig deep and do a little more," Pawlenty kidded.

Voters won’t go milquetoast... they will go barracuda.
I am worried about caucuses.
This GOP voter or whatever I am is not going to vote for Plentypaw or any other Rhino. Right now it’s Sarah or nobody!
No doubt. He has no fire, no spine and will be the perfect candidate for Obama to roll. No thanks.
If there is evidence that Pawlenty could carry his home state against the False One, then he could be a contender for the nomination. Plus the fact that conservatives appreciate a Governor who completes two FULL terms as Governor.
Perhaps. I’m not voting for anyone who believes in Amnesty of global warming, however.
Out trolling about, newbie?
I was really impressed with the way Tim Pawlenty kept ACORN and Al Franken from stealing a Senate seat. And especially liked the way he didn’t completely disappear during the height of the controversey. Oh wait.
Odd... the person most appreciated by Conservatives didn't do that.
Maybe Will Steger and his dogsled team with be the Green Czars.
No, I'd rather have Sarah Palin than a two FULL term Governor Pawlenty that champions his own regional "Cap & Trade" (Ration & Tax) program.
I guess Pawlenty was afraid that the national Democrats might not be able to pass it, so he came out with his own little regional Ration & Tax plan.
He also had a lot of fun on his little global warming junkets with Arctic explorer Will Steger.
He was a huge early Mccain supporter, and he beleives in Amnesty and global warming. Too close for comfort.
No offense, but Reagan did, 1967 - 1975.
Not a chance in Hell that you will get my vote, Tim RINO, not a chance.
Not getting my vote.
I would not support Pawlenty and I don’t think he is even a potential nominee.
That being said, and as an independent, I sure hope the GOP fixes it’s nomination process.
Realistically, I donn’t think any pubbie had a chance in last years election. Regardless, they could have done a heck of a lot better than McCain.
I hope that they do not go this moderate pathway again.
