CODY, Wyoming - Wielding his chain saw as a weapon, a former U.S. Marine says he fought off a starving mountain lion that attacked him while he was camping with his wife and two toddlers in northwestern Wyoming.
Dustin Britton, a 32-year-old mechanic and ex-Marine, said he was alone cutting firewood about 100 feet from his campsite in the Shoshone National Forest when he saw the lion staring at him from some bushes.
Britton revved his 18-inch chain saw and tried to back away. But the 100-pound lion followed.

Well, that will teach me to read the thread first.
I'm a pretty big lion fan. I found this girl at Okerfontein on the southern edge of the Etosha pan right after she'd made the solo kill. It was about 105, and she was pooped.
I still use one, it's faster and less trouble than the electric gizmos.

I saw this post while scanning the "current comments" in New/Activisim, and I knew exactly what you guys were talking about. I kept mine for many years after I got out until I lost it somewhere. Best little can opener in the world.
Daddy was on Iwo. He's been gone twenty years now....

Back in 1775, in Tun's Tavern, recruiting started for the new Marine Corps. The very first Marine enlistee came in, signed the papers and took an oath. He was then told to go outside and wait for the other enlistees to go through the process. They would assemble later on the front yard.
After a few minutes the second enlistee came out and had a seat on the steps, beside the first. The first man looked at the second and began, "Son, let me tell you about the Old Corps."
My cats look at me every day, lick their lips, and think, "Damn! I wish she'd feed me or rub my tummy or brush my coat or play with the birdy toy or... Oh Look! A squirrel!"
And leaves the pelt in the poorest condition.
Yes, that was one aggressive cougar, and after a married man!
The one I have on my keyring is the same one I had in 1970. It has held-up better than I have.
He is a former Marine why did he need a chainsaw? ;-)backwoods Chainsaw handicap match rules applied
Wouldna left home without it. TG A20
Yes. a P-51 was slightly larger.
They were real good at straffing trains and trucks, shooting down airplains, and all kids of other goodies; but I never open a C-ration can with one.
Well, being a married man, what do you expect? -- a cat trying to eat him alive is probably old news to him.
[runs to put on helmet and flak vest!!!]
I especially love the "ex-Marine" stories in the media about 80 or 90 year old men.
For example: Ex-Marine, 86 year old Cleveland man fends burglar.
Save the cougars!
Good thing you have your own gear since I donated my last fire suit on another thread to someone who really needed it.
