The Cambridge cop prominent Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. claims is a racist gave a dying Reggie Lewis mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in a desperate bid to save the Celtics [team stats] superstar’s life 16 years ago Monday.
“I wasn’t working on Reggie Lewis the basketball star. I wasn’t working on a black man. I was working on another human being,” Sgt. James Crowley, in an exclusive interview with the Herald, said of the forward’s fatal heart attack July 27, 1993, at age 27 during an off-season practice at Brandeis University, where Crowley was a campus police officer.

I heard one analyst on a local Boston news station this morning say that it looks like he *will* sue.And if he does the City of Cambridge will settle....for a serious sum.And if they don't settle he'll win and win big.Because,as I said before,this *is* Massachusetts after all.

The next time police respond to a break and enter call at the Gates residence and some black man packing silverware into a pillowcase says “I live here, go away.” what are the odds the police will try to make certain he actually does live there and is not a thief?

Gates saw an open door opportunity and blasted through it. No witnesses, cry foul, shame Whitey, sue and reap more money from the system. Uppity, immature attitudes will automatically assume the white cop stopping and checking the innocent black man was doing so because the cop is racist. It’s the same old scam. Burglars should be lining up at his door now, as who would want to risk protecting it after this? If Gates proceeds with ANYTHING, the hornet’s nest will be broken wide open. If he is a true and gracious intellect, he’ll leave it behind.
There is prejudice in this country. Its NOT the same thing as racism.
Prejudice and discrimination are survival techniques.
Being discriminating is not racism, it is methodical scrutiny, an examination of a situation.
In this case the cop saw an irrational angry uncooperative man.
That made his radar go off. Race was not the defining factor.
