He certainly seems to view everything (Gates that is) in terms of ‘black v white’ and not in terms of ‘police v suspect’.
I certainly would not want the policemen to be letting down their guard when answering about a possible break-in simply because the suspect that answers the door is white or black.
Especially when the ‘race’ of the suspect matches the ‘race’ of the potential perp.
Gates needs to rethink his story line some more.
What people continue to miss is this. Wright, Pflager, zero, Sharpton, Jeackson, ALL of them are in the public eye for one reason and one reason only. To keep race in the spotlight.
For at least a generation most Americans have been colored blind. This attitude is the enemy of the demonrats. Were it not for race baiters, their party would die. That party needs them to gin up their false premise of a racist America in order to stay in power. Just another way demonrats lie for power and manipulate/use minority groups.

Gates also assumed the cop knew he was “THE DISTINGUISHED Professor Gates” How would the average cop know who he was?
He expected Sgt. Crowley to automatically know who he was, address him by name and courteously introduce himself?

I want to know if his trip to China, supposedly to film a PBS documentary about the Faces of America, (in China?) was a front to launder money from this so-called charity. Is there an account set up in a Chinese bank for these funds?
The woman who reported the break in isn’t a neighbor but someone who apparently works for Harvard Alumni Magazine. You’d think if he was that famous, she would have recognized him. Actually, it would be a great Saturday Night Live skit if part of the police racial profiling classes included a run down of local black men of note. They would show a bunch of cops in a classroom where they flash pictures on a screen of famous black men in the area.
When he says something to the effect of (paraphrasing), "Black people shouldn't go outside (when the police are at your home), because then they can arrest you." What is he worried about getting arrested for? That's paranoia.
We will know when the tapes are finally released, but I'll bet dollars to donuts that he was acting squirrely from the moment the cops showed up which only heightened the policeman's suspicions, as it should have. And, when there's a burgerly-in-progress call, that a good-faith reason for the police to enter the premises with, or without the someone's permission.
This exact same thing happened to my neighbor who is from Brazil (sans the arrest), when he tripped his alarm when returning in the middle of the night from a business trip. He was escorted outside, placed in handcuffs and sat in the police car until they sorted out what was what. And, he was thankful and gracious about the whole thing, as Gates should have been.
