The United States did not use the word "African" for birth certificates in 1961 - Obama's does!
Vital Statistics of the United States ^ | 1961 | U.S. Dept. of Health

VITAL STATISTICS OF THE UNITED STATES 1961 at

 http://www.nber.org/vital-statistics/historical/nat61_1.CV.pdf

says on page 231 under the section "Race and color" the following:

"Births in the United States in 1961 are classified for vital statistics into white, Negro, American Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Aleut, Eskimo, Hawaiian and Part-Hawaiian (combined), and "other nonwhite."

"The category "white" includes, in addition to persons reported as "white," those reported as Mexican or Puerto Rican. With one exception, a reported mixture of Negro with any other race is included in the Negro group; other mixed parentage is classified according to the race of the nonwhite parent and mixtures of nonwhite races to the race of the father. The exception refers to a mixture of Hawaiian and any other race, which is classified as Part-Hawaiian. In most tables a less detailed classification of "white" and "nonwhite" is used."

Obama's "Certification of Live Birth" shows father's race as "African". That word was not used in 1961 to describe race.

You can draw your own conclusion.

This also shows whoever dummied this document up was
a) not very smart
b) probably too young to remember when “negro” was a race, not an insult
c) too politically correct to use the term “negro”

Or, was “influenced” ($$$) to make the change...during Opossum’s several vacations to Hawaii.

Yes. I graduated high school in 1961. Negro was the accepted term of identification. Ever hear of the United Negro College Fund?

From Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream Speech," delivered 28 August 1963:

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

What that “cut and pasted crap” says to me is that in 1961, the states that comprise the United States of America, including the state of Hawaii, used those race classifications for birth certificates. Thus, there would be no way that Hawaii, or any other state in the union, would have used “African” as a classification, since that classification did not exist.

Am I missing something here?

This is WHY Obama has never publicly stated that the COLB posted on line is "his". Plausible deniability. It's a forgery. And it's about ready to be exposed. A resolution "confirming" his Hawaii birth. A bogus statement by the Hawaii department of health.

Theory: The noise was ratcheted up on this issue BECAUSE the truth will come out very soon and Obama wanted as much confusion as possible.

I have always wondered about that. I assumed that Hawaii may have just become politically correct and started issuing fairly recently COLBs that changed Negro to African.

Hawaii probably has precious few examples of birth certificates from that era that needed negro, black or African.

Would not the qualification that defines Blacks as African-Americans also apply to white immigrants born in Johannesburg?
Let's hope your discovery proves to be every much as big as that fake-font-fiasco-turned out to be for where-is-he-now, I'd-Rather-Fake-the-News-than-report-the-truth guy.

I'll co-sign your comment.

I went through colored/negro/afro-American to African American. In the 60s we went from Negro to black, as in black power and black panthers, but no afro or African. Also, racial designation was Negro. Which should be on a birth certificate.

Perhaps someone can explain if this was the case in Hawaii.

No one was called African unless they were born in Africa.

You are missing the point. The USG sets the reporting parameters and defines how the data is reported so they can compile it nationally. I would assume that Hawaii would adhere to those standards. Today, it may be African, which is why I posited that the recently issued COLBs [secondary documents] use the term African.

You may be speaking of me as I have held that position for a number of months here at FR.

But, after seeing a 1963 HI LF/BC, I recognize that the there is no place to enter the race of the child, only the parents.

I’m beginning to wonder of Stanley refused to give the father’s name thereby only her race would be on the LF/BC. That would mean official documentation going forward for little Barry would have him classified as caucasian (by default?).

All of his official records through-out his pre-age-of-majority life would say he was white.

No cred in the urban street, if true.

Be aware that offering up altered documents as public evidence is felony fraud.
