I don’t think Crowley is so average, after all, he is a Cop and can arrest (or worse) anyone if he doesn’t like what they are saying or doing. That’s something Gates should have realized.
I don’t think Gates is so smart, even if he’s a rofessor. NO ONE should mouth off to a Cop, especially a Black man with a white Cop, and Gates should have known that. It’s his fault all this happened.

How our society has corrupted the very basics of common decency and respect for others. The whole episode came about because Gates was NOT respectful of the Cambridge Police. This stupid ass excuse that he was tired does NOT excuse insubordination as an ADULT, a public professor himself to ACT out BELIGERENTLY, CONFRONTATIONALLY, and FINALLY DRAWING THE RACE CARD HIMSELF!
If I had a student at Harvard University, I would withdraw them and tell that University to fire Gates and start hiring decent, respectful Professors. How far has Harvard fallen from their roots wherein in the 1700s they actually taught BIBLICAL principals!

Absolutely right. If you are disrespectful to the police or say something they don’t like, you can be immediately arrested, or worse. We ALL MUST respect all police officers at ALL times, no matter how tired or irritated we are. A wrong move can be deadly.
Now, wait—we still don’t know what Officer Crowley has planned with his lawyer/s!!!
I would LOVE to see Gates’ and HolyO’s faces when they are subpoenaed to appear in court for Crowley’s slander case! :-)
