I really don’t think the Aggie Yell Leader wants to get into a comparison of years sucking at the public teat with the Tea Sip Cheer Leader. KBH has 23 yrs based upon your listing and Perry has 24 yrs, http://www.votesmart.org/bio.php?can_id=15373 .. So they both are about equal.

Thanks Meek. I don’t think KBH will present a problem unless the guv really steps in it before the election - and I don’t really see that happening either. Overall, and IMHO, Perry has put in an acceptable performance for us over the years. We could do a lot worse. At least he hasn’t acted “stupidly”. ;^)

Katheryn Harris was NOT nutty as you accuse.

She was a good conservative; and therefore, the Republicans were afraid of her like they are afraid of Palin. Hence, they gave her little support.

Add my amen to that! Kathryn Harris was one brave woman who stood up for the law in the 2000 election debacle and against some very vicious attacks. Devane seems to believe the Leftist attacks. I was amazed when W and the Republicans abandoned her.

I expressed an opinion that is shared by many. Just review the Florida election she lost when GOP voters voted against her in droves. Just because she carried out a daring deed, does not insure her for life. She had a seat in congress that was safe for as long as she wished. But, against the overwhelming opinion she ran for the Senate and was trounced, but good. She is doomed to live out her life in obscurity rather than living her congressional gift she received because she did a good deed. Katheryn Harris was/is a first-class nutjob.

“She had a seat in congress that was safe for as long as she wished.”

With all due apologies, then I am confused. The one I am thinking of did not have a seat in congress. I believe she was attorny general of the state?

The one I am thinking of was a lawyer in Florida in the middle of the Bush flap in 2000.

Please clue me in.

Thank you.

Okay, then I was correct after all; and it is devane617 who is confused.

Thank you.

How was she a nut? Other than the Republicans did not like her?

I agree. The one thing I hold against RP is the Gardisil fiasco. He should never have gotten in the middle of that mandate. That meddling may hurt him BUT I can only expect KBH would go much further.

Both have been on the public dole for too long.
Problem is that the alternatives are worse.

Yep political office has become a life long occupation for many. Much different that what the founders envisioned but by the same token the world is much different from their day of reference. I probably would support time limits on all political offices from the lowest to the highest which we do have a limit on.

It’d be nice if one did.

I’m just happy though that she has decided to give up her Senate seat. We don’t need any more soft RINOs in Washington.

You should not have been amazed that GWB and “Jebbie” Not So Little deserted Harris. The Bushes will still do anything to get a Democrat to say something nice about them. And they are all still waiting.

I would rather you be wrong but the evidence seems to be on your side.

She was the Secretary of State and was responsible for certifying the election results. Devane is either misinformed or is not remembering correctly.

True enough, and IMHO, that particular item may have been a "learning experience" for Perry. He received a pretty clear message from the electorate during that dustup that Texans aren't keen on socialized meds, or socialized anything for that matter. The Trans Texas Corridor was another item I honestly had mixed feelings about that ended up flaming out because of a grassroots, primarily internet driven as near as I could tell, rebellion against it.

All in all, he has only committed a few faux pas that are all but ancient history by now. Truth be known, we Texans may feel pretty good about what we see as our ability to influence our "brand". ;^)

What 2 totally awful candidates. I couldn't vote for either one. RP is a police-nanny stater and KBH is country club blue blood. Is the Dem in the race a conservative by chance? Probably not I would imagine.

I agree, but the lessor of two evils you know....I think it is time we find a batch of new, young conservatives to serve Texas. Broom the current batch out and start fresh.
