He said that relationships are already being weakened by the decline in face-to-face meetings and conversations over the phone. What about texting? During a family get-together one teen kept texting her friends. When the grandfather took the phone away she started crying. Think about it....

but I'm afraid they're pointless.
Every young person I know
would cry like that girl
if you took away their phone.
We don't need warnings,
we need good advice
on what to do now, on how
to handle this mess . . .

Well I think it is up to the parents to put restrictions on the phone texting...not the grandparents for sure. Who gave him the right to discipline? If it was the parents fine, but to do it just to do it would not go over well in my house.
