This is the health bill passed out of the House Energy/Commerce Committee.

An “eligible” plan is:
-—...a group health benefits plan that is maintained by one or more employers, former employers or employee associations, or a voluntary employees’ beneficiary association, or a committee or board of individuals appointed to administer such plan
AND
-—provides health benefits to RETIREES. [as young as 55]
Now, most PRIVATE employers presume retirees will be on Medicare, so they don’t provide RETIREE health plans. And they certainly don’t provide retiree health care for 55-year-olds.
No, my experience has been that only PUBLIC and UNION plans have such provisions.
Check it out. Looks to me like we’ll be picking up the tab for those “concessions” the UAW made a couple of months ago. Even worse, is this setting it up to make FEDERAL taxpayers pay for those unfunded state and local public employee retiree health plans?!
