At StatePaper.com, we know by making this statement we will be instantly tagged as "racist," "birther," or other pejorative terms by those who defend the President of the United States. We often defend the President and the job he is doing and are regularly lambasted for being "too liberal" or an "Obama lover" by some of our most prolific critics.

But, here is the issue:

The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of our country. Article II of the Constitution requires the President to be a natural born citizen. Without reciting them here, there appears to be some serious questions raised about whether President Obama was born in the United States or Kenya. We have not checked sources, but there are reports that some witnessed his birth in Kenya.

The President's campaign staff and then his administration have released and placed on the internet a "Certificate of Live Birth." We do not dispute the validity or correctness of that document as others have tried to do, suggesting the use of computers to alter seals and names. By releasing this document the President agrees that the claims about his status as a natural born citizen is an open, important, public issue.

But, this "Certificate of Live Birth" is simply not the best evidence that the President and his administration could offer to lay to rest any doubt about his status as a natural born citizen.

This is a simple thing to put to rest. I have a passport and a birth certificate. I can produce them at my house in a matter of minutes. I have not spent a million dollars to either acquire them...or to hide them.

This is not a unreasonable thing to ask for since being a "natural born citizen" of the US is a constitutional requirement for the job of President. It's not hateful, and it's not racist.

Proving that you are should be an honor.

Yet Obama cannot and will not produce either. Why?

The following document is a Certified Copy of Registration of Birth, puporting to be from Kenya. It has gotten a lot of press. It has a number of issues which means, IMHO, that in all probability that it is not authentic. Yet, it looks more authentic than the electronic Certificate of Live Birth (COLB, not the long form Birth Certificate which has never been offered) that the Obama administration has shown on their web site.

The point is, this supposed document is out there and is being analyzed to death and will ultimately be certified one way or the other by experts. Obama's long form birth certificate is not...it is getting no such review. The longer it is absent, the more insistent the demands will be for it to be made public.

A number of military Officers are now suing for Obama to prove and show his "bonafides" before deploying, because for them, it becomes a life or death issue to follow their Commander in Chief. The same applies in principle to all citizens. In the end, Obama will not be able to forever hide from proving the constitutional qualification.

Todays new Salon article (surprisingly) admits that what Obama released is not his official birth certificate. The CNN emails to Dobbs admitted it as well.

No matter where you are on this issue, you have to admit that on this one pretty big point-the so called “birthers” were correct from the start and the “he already released his birth certificate” defense has pretty much been abandoned.

The Salon article also admitted that babies born outside of Hawaii can in fact get the type of document obama has released (another huge admission) but that the actual birthplace would be listed on the form.

Until an individual born outside of Hawaii can produce the same document Obama has put out, that issue seems to be at a dead end.

Publisher Hahn is welcome to join the ranks of "Birthers", albeit belatedly, but he confuses the debate by referring to the (forged) document that the Obama camp has put forward as a "Certificate of Live Birth." If he took the time to look at it, he would see that it is titled "Certification of Live Birth".

I think a number of people fear what the results of proving Obama is an illegal president will be.

Attempting to remove him from office by any mean, even if justified, will tear this country to pieces.

No dead ends. Obama could have easily been born outside of HI and had granny submit an affidavit and fill out a form that he was born on the island. We’ll get to the bottom of it.

But, this "Certificate of Live Birth" is simply not the best evidence. True enough, but it gets confusing. The Certificate of live birth is exactly what we need to see. It is a long-form true birth certificate honored by the State Dept. I know because I have one from Hawaii post-WWII. The document viewed online was the Certification of Live birth, the abbreviated short form version which won't get you a passport ... It helps to get the terminology straight.

Let me rephrase that:

The argument that one can be KNOWN BY STATE OFFICIALS to have been born outside of Hawaii and receive the same worded document that Obama produced thru the web seems to be a dead end unless another person born outside Hawaii can produce the same worded document.

The idea Obamas granny lied about the whereabouts of his birth to state officials to get that form is a different argument than “people born outside the US can get that same form”.

I was born in Hawaii and am the proud owner of the document in question. Certificate of Live Birth is the birth certificate. Certification of Live Birth is just a document that says "here are your parents and they say you were born in Hawaii." So much for my 'short form' explanation.

The Kenyan certificate is a fake IMHO. It appears to be a photoshop of an Australian certificate that was out on the Net. The Republic of Kenya had not yet come into being, it was still the Dominion of Kenya. It would have taken days and a couple of thousand dollars, real money in 1961, to get there. The international flights went to Nairobi, where the best hospitals were. Why would she then travel to Mombasa, on the opposite side of the country from her in-laws, to have her baby? I haven't seen the report, but reportedly a couple of Brit historians say at the time Kenya was divided into regions, not provinces. The WND copy is poor quality, which doesn't allow for inspection of the national crest or notary seal, which might reveal more irregularities.

We were quick to jump on the Rather forgery, we shouldn't lose credibility on this one.
