Boxer shaky again as campaign looms
Dan Walters Aug. 10, 2009
California's U.S. senators tend to fall into two categories headline-grabbers and dependable workhorses for the state's interests.
For the past 17 years, the state's two senators have been Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. Both elected during the much-heralded "year of the woman," they have followed the state's time-honored pattern.
Boxer draws media attention with her quixotic political forays, often involving some left-of-center cause having nothing to do with California, while Feinstein is the go-to person for the state's economic and political interests.
It explains why voter polls consistently find that Feinstein is among the state's highest-rated political figures while Boxer's popularity swings with the tides and rarely reaches beyond the magic 50 percent level.
Every six years, Republicans believe that with just the right candidate and just the right amount of money, they can knock off the woman they love to hate. And they are heartened again by a new poll showing Boxer barely leading the most likely 2010 challenger, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
The Rasmussen Reports poll found that 45 percent of California voters support Boxer's re-election, with Fiorina at 41 percent and 7 percent undecided, much closer than a March poll.

Personally I think the focus should clearing out Boxer, first. Picking off Feinstein will be a very, very formidable task....
Accept no liberal substitutes, Dem or RINO.
That formidable task is one that should thrill and energize a conservative candidate willing to fight for our freedom and serve the country by cleaning out Socialists.
CA should rid itself of Pelosi, Waters and the Sanchez sisters where one can’t make up whether she wants her name to be white or mexican.
Also, please take that Ebay woman.
Forgot Feinstein, Miss China Queen.
Feinstein’s popular in California. Pelosi and Boxer are not. Case closed....
I think the RCN would be foolish to pump too much money into this, there are many more likely pickups. California is always fools gold for the GOP.
Chuck Devore can best her, and Boxer.
The mood of the country AND California has changed dramatically. Sacramento is worse than DC right now and everyone is FED UP.
Social issues will not play a part in the 2010 or 2012 campaigns...it'll be taxes and spending...taxes and spending...taxes and spending.
That, and what "type" of country we want to be. A country like Venezuela...or the one the founders handed down to us.
Oh, No... Biden still is President of the Senate.
Semper Fi
In a sane world she would have risen no further than assistant clerk at a brassiere boutique in Queens.
Feinstein, is just as bad! Voted against Alito and Roberts and sang the praises of Sotomayor! A real bitch whose husband Blum has made $billions with his China connections parlayed from Feinstein’s role on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
I doubt that there’s a Republican in CA right now who could defeat her....
I support DeVore and have and will continue to contribute to his campaign.
Boxer is dumb as a post and if Fiorina debates her it will be no contest.
Come on California, why do you vote for this pea brain woman?
You don’t know Boxer, this bitch is pure evil and a literal pit bull. She eats milquetoast RINO challengers like Cartman pops Cheesy Poofs. There ain’t gonna be anything left of Fiorina but her wet panties on the stage.
I’m shocked people have forgotten how easily Boxer polishes off these RINO challengers. She ate Matt Fong alive, and Bill Jones, too. Bruce Herschensohn, the last bonafide Conservative challenger, might’ve been able to take her in ‘92 (and he got the closest to date), had he not been dry-gulched by her vicious attacks. Personally, absent DeVore, I wouldn’t mind seeing that guy from the Black Chamber of Commerce take her on. He had some real balls and fought back like NONE of her challengers have.
Would love to see Boxer be told, ‘There’s the door, Ma’am, now hit the road.’
