Isn't there a formality to go through first?

It's called an “election” where various candidates “campaign”.

It's an American thing — maybe that's why the remaining sandwich Senator doesn't understand.

And her experience is, what, putting him bed after a drinking binge?

She has the right last name, what more qualification could she need?

Hatch and McCain take turns on seeing who can be the most stupid GOP Senator.

I say that John McCain should replace Teddy-boy in the Senate, Massachusetts gets a liberal mealy-mouthed publicity hound to replace their recently departed liberal mealy-mouthed publicity hound, Arizona gets rid of the RINO pox they’ve been dealing with for WAY too many years, and the GOP (if it has any lingering common sense at all) can seek to get a REAL conservative elected Senator from Arizona!

Our revolution was fought to dump one ruling family, now we’re getting stuck with another? Enough already, let them get real jobs.

Why can’t UT get rid of Hatch?

Actually, if they were stupid enough to change the law....then appoint her (which is a temp appointment anyway)...you end up with a very weak candidate. Vicki is not much of a public speaker, and to be honest...Vicki is not a true Kennedy. I think most Republicans in the state view Vicki as a imaginary “Ted” that simply fixes the current problem and lacks any concrete structure. By latching onto Vicki...you create an easy candidate to beat in a real election.

Plus I think on top of it, in one of the newsstories, she did say no, but you never know.

Even after Teddy spent a lifetime in the Senate, she’s probably more qualified than he was. Which is not saying a whole lot. She couldn’t possibly be dumber, drunker, or more corrupt.

Rather AZ should “retire” Sen.McCain for once and get a REAL conservative.

I am not suprised that my home state’s Sen.Dodd would also say the same thing. He knows his position came from his father.

Hey, I thought you Americans had a revolution, or something, to rid yourselves of dynastic rulers.

We Canadians have a dynastic Head of State (Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.). That seems to satisfy most of our urges to create other, home-grown, dynasties.
