Pence calls on Van Jones to resign
Politico ^ | September 04, 2009 | Martin Kady II

Rep. Mike Pence, the no. 3 Republican in the House, is calling on Obama green jobs czar Van Jones to resign.

This sort of thing would usually be laughed off by Democrats -- a conservative Republican telling a Democratic appointee to quit.

But the Obama team isn't exactly jumping to back Jones today in wake of revelations that in the past he signed on to one of the "truther" groups that claimed 9/11 was an inside job. Oh, and he called Republicans a**holes in a video earlier this year before he was appointed.

Asked about Jones' affiliations with the 9/11 group at the daily briefing, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs would only say: "It's not something that the president agrees with." And then Gibbs referred other questions to a statement Thursday by the Council on Environmental Quality in which Jones said he never backed any of these 9/11 conspiracy groups.

"Given recent revelations concerning the associations and statements of the president's green jobs czar, Van Jones should resign his position and if he is unwilling to do so, the president should demand his resignation. His extremist views and coarse rhetoric have no place in this Administration or the public debate," Pence said. "The Constitution of the United States vests Congress with the responsibility to advise and consent in the appointment of high ranking officials by the president. To date, President Obama has appointed more than thirty individuals to ‘czar’ positions within his Administration without permitting the Congress or the American people to properly examine their backgrounds or public records."

I don’t need to be.
Palin won’t fly.
It’s highly doubtful she could win the Republican nomination, and no one is going to choose last election’s losing VP candidate as their own running mate. That would be absolute political suicide.

"So....let me get this straight... Jones is found to be a communist, marxist, anti-capitalist, anti-american RADICAL and not a peep.... But then they find he is a 9/11 truther and suddenly, they can’t have that?

Bingo! That's exactly what I was thinking! That Van Jones is "a 9/11 truther" is the least of his issues.

But I guess that "questioning the US government" is far more offensive to those in power than is "shredding the Constitution". Sick.

Jones will resign so as not to be a “distraction.” Like Daschle.

You forget the republican sell-outs who voted for cap’n’tax. There names/faces should be posted each week as reminder that they need to be defeated in 2010.

Mike Pence can. He is a natural leader.

Mike Pence has the capability of rallying the troops in ways unseen from any other Republican politician of the last 30 years other than Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin.

“John Beehner can’t and won’t lead the GOP out ofthe political wilderness and back to the Majority. “

What the hell is wrong with the republicans? We have a friggin commie in the WH and he is surrounded by his cronies who are bent on destroying the USA. And our congress and senate sit on their collective asses as it happens. Are they afraid? Are they being bullied or blackmailed?

I want to know!

“Hah, a Democrat - do the honorable thing and resign? That’ll be the day. Marion Barry, Cynthia McKinney, Teddy the Swimmer, his son Patches, etc, etc. They have no shame.”

Democrat leadership is, in toto, dishonest, immoral, corrupt MFing sleaze who do not deserve to breathe air in the US of A. I wouldn’t trust any one of them to hold my popcorn in a theater while I went to pee.

I just know when I got back they would have sold my popcorn and peed in the cup!

I've had it with all of them, f'em

So far the Republicans in Congress have held firm on the Stimulus, Tax and Trade and Obama Care. If you look you would probably find comments from all of them on their votes.

Your lack of discernment is reckless.

Meaningless gesture. Jones will not stop influencing Obama whether he is offically employed by the gubbermint or not. He can just pick up a gig at ACORN if he needs some drug money. When Obammy "disavowed" Wright, do you think he stopped listening to him or following his leads?

December 2, 2005: “You’ve never seen a Columbine done by a black child. Never. They always say, ‘We can’t believe it happened here. We can’t believe it’s these suburban white kids.’ It’s only them. Now, a black kid might shoot another black kid. He’s not going to shoot up the whole school.”

Beck, on his Thursday show, called for us to contact our Reps and Senators now and ask where the he** are they? (They meaning Congress). Also asks where is the FBI and background checks on these people.

Well, Congress (Republican) is starting to step up and the FBI isn’t required to do background checks on these people because they don’t hold a constitutionally defined office in the White House. They’re Tsars (I like that spelling better)and as such beyond public scrutiny (unless you’re Beck).

But not Mike Pence.

Why would anyone who actually wanted to win the presidency ever choose last election’s losing VP candidate as their own?
The notion is absolutely ridiculous.

Your premise is apparently that she was responsible for the loss.

Many contend that her presence on the ticket resulted in a net gain of votes, even though not enough to repair the damage done by McCain.
