GOP uses Jones to launch czar revolt By: Lisa Lerer September 4, 2009 06:19 PM EST

Republicans who have spent months criticizing the proliferation of “czars” in the Obama White House have finally landed a major punch.

Over the past few weeks, White House green jobs czar Van Jones has been accused of being a communist, an old lecture video showed him calling Republicans a—holes, and he’s been connected to a Sept. 11 conspiracy group.

With that type of paper trail, Jones would have trouble surviving a Senate confirmation.

But his czar status allowed him to skip this step: Many of the high-level White House policy advisers don’t require Senate confirmation for their posts. And while liberals have hailed Jones as a pioneer in the green jobs movement, critics have labeled him a radical — and he’s become a liability for a White House that doesn’t need another distraction.

On Friday, Republicans began calling for his resignation and asked for a public hearing into how Jones slipped past the White House vetting process. And White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Friday avoided addressing the Jones controversy directly, referring reporters back to a Jones statement apologizing for his affiliation with the Sept. 11 "truthers."

The Jones debacle shows how czars — dozens of powerful problem solvers tapped to tackle some of the thorniest problems facing the country — could continue to cause problems for the White House. By some counts, the Obama administration has about 30 czars — a term used as shorthand for long, wonky titles such as Jones’s “Council on Environmental Quality's special adviser for green jobs.”

“What is this Sarah cult all about?”

Oh... you know... it is kind of like that Reagan cult long ago.

Don’t send me anymore private messages troll, just make your posts on the thread.

Meg Whitman is all over this Van Jones guy when she is trying to push him to those reporters.

It is an embarrassing and revealing display by this Romney agent who only registered republican in 2007 and rarely bothers to vote.

Watch it.

I used to live in California, and don’t recall Reagan quitting his job as Governor in the middle of his term.

What is this Sarah cult all about?

Oh, I don't know...

This is a great article. Glenn Beck “has landed a punch”.

...what's this Glenn Beck cult all about?

I think we should all be thrilled and celebrate the fact that we now have more big guns than just Rush. I would imagine Rush is pretty happy about that, too!

Sarah got off a "kill shot" on the "death panels", and it looks as though Glenn's about to bag one, too.

I'd say 9YearLurker (Yep, I’d say Sarah and Glenn have done the most damage so far) gave both their due. Works for me.

Better yet: “NO CZARS” AT ALL!” They are un-Constitutional and undercut the Congress and the Senate, but the dimwitted victims there don’t seem to realize they have lost more power. Who funds the Czars anyway? What powers do they really have? Does anyone know? Or care? The Sheeple are catatonic. The media is sleeping with the messiah and don’t care to investigate. Te Republic is toast!

He did not feel compelled to resign for the best of his State due to attacks from the left and the media that made it impossible to govern his state effectively... and he did not have a staunch Conservative Lt. Governor in the wings to continue the good work he had started. She did the right thing... you think otherwise... so what? We shall see who will be our nominee in the future.

I remember the down and out dims facing an all republican Congress and Whitehouse effectively destroying the GOP in one election cycle... it can and has been done before. It takes balls and brains... and the gop has very little of either of those two commodities.

I believe that spamming people with freepmail can become an issue with the moderators.

As I was reading your posting history I thought I was picking up signs of a retread troll, I am sure of it now.

So far, the only ones from the (R, or Conservative) side of the political aisle putting up any kind of fight, are the women. Palin and Bachmann. KEEP IT UP LADIES!

AMEN! (Or should I say "A-WOMEN" LOL!)

Palin-Bachmann Overdrive 2012!!

Wasting resources on getting rid of this Jones puke is not useful. There are plenty of Democrats who are going to get him pushed out of office.

What we need to do is be prepared to keep bringing ol'Jonesy up every single time as an example of the sort of scum the Obama Regime prefers to deal with.

Reagan wasn’t governor of Alaska and then having to live isolated from the mainland after being identified as the conservative leader of the republican party after being nominated for vice president.

To try and face the left wing onslaught from office in Alaska or Hawaii is impossible.

She sounds like a typical California cow, whether she is Republican or democrat she sounds like she has some screws loose..

She is a liberal cow, that is anti second amendment and pro-abortion, she rarely votes and only became a republican less than two years ago.

Her political mentor is the anti-second amendment, pro-abortion (until 2008 campaign), liberal, Mitt Romney who has bought a house in California to help defeat any one to right from knocking her out.
