SNIPPET: "The new head of the Paris-based U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), an agency that gets 22 percent of its regular $600 million-plus annual budget from U.S. taxpayers, will be selected in a process that involves behind-closed-doors interviewing and a secret ballot vote."
SNIPPET: "Farouk Hosni, who has been Egypts culture minister for more than two decades, leads a nine-strong field of hopefuls. He leads largely because he has the backing of the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the African Union, and because Arab governments say it is the Arab worlds turn."
SNIPPET: "Asked by Egyptian lawmakers in May 2008 about the existence of Israeli books in a library in Alexandria, the culture minister answered, Lets burn these books. If there are any, I will burn them myself before you.
Hosni has admitted the remarks..."
SNIPPET: "In 2006, the executive board approved a measure, introduced by the OIC, entitled respect for freedom of expression, sacred beliefs, values and religious and cultural symbols.
The motion did not refer directly to the furor at the time over the publication of cartoons satirizing Mohammed, but an explanatory note offered by the OIC members did, saying the publication has caused deep and widespread offense and indignation.
The OIC said the push at UNESCO was part of its strategy to take initiatives at various international organs to contribute to the formation of an international legal framework against what the organization calls religious defamation."

Thank you for the bump Jet Jaguar.
Oh?! Sure! And we are worried about Bernie Madoff who scammed “some” people.
Yet! And Yet! We have here a glaring example of the government fleecing those of us who pay taxes and yet they are not called out for being thieves under color?
Well now, money (our hard earned taxpayer dollars and our grandchildren’s future earnings) just seems to run like a river these days.

This is just another sneaky foot in the door. I mean, look at the track record of the freakin’ UN in anything they get involved in, not to even mention the religious persuasion or lack thereof of the bureaucrats that get to agency level. And, they spend more money more profligately than the US gov’t does, with lots more corruption. And now, they want to get involved in educating American children, who are already being intellectually abused by the gov’t school system. WONDERFUL! I have an idea, these guys want to change the world monetary standard away from the dollar? OK, then let’s just not give them any more of the things.
“OK, then lets just not give them any more of the things.”
Sounds right to me.
I imagine Kofi and Barack hunt on the Ivory Coast together, dontchaknow...
That’s a polite way of saying, just another day at the U.N.

SNIPPET: “Egypt’s culture minister on Wednesday blamed a conspiracy “cooked up in New York” by the world’s Jews for keeping him from becoming the next head of the UN’s agency for culture and education.
Farouk Hosny was defeated on Tuesday by Bulgarian diplomat Irina Bokova in a tight race for the position of UNESCO chair.”
