Did you see BLOAT? “Buy lots of ammunition today”
Did you see BLOAT? “Buy lots of ammunition today”
More additions (some classic stuff):
DITHF
WWCGEBD?
You’re fired. Get off the welcome wagon. Why you ain’t tell me ‘bout this thread?!
Because I don’t actually like you?
What does that have to do with your habit of being informative?
Touché!
OK ... so having been duly chastised elsewhere, I offer the following addition:
“Amish”: Euphemism for melanistic criminal thugs. Perhaps for criminal thugs generally; this was not explained.
Perhaps someone with actual knowledge of the origin of this euphemism (or is that “euphamism”?) will offer additional enlightenment on this very important topic?
I don't have a link to the thread where it first appeared, but I do recall the context...
The article that started a thread was about a couple of criminals who, one could readily infer, were black thugs; but the article danced around that fact in a most annoyingly transparent manner.
A commenter pointed up the lack of reporting thoroughness, and offered the opinion that the perps were probably "Amish" (because, of course, such an association is ludicrous and patently false, hence an obvious joke). The association caught on.
So it's not actually a euphemism (you were right, "e" not "a"), but rather an intentionally satirical (almost sarcastic) way of saying "black".
I'll try to find the original thread. Unfortunately, FR search doesn't search on comments, and google search with site restricted to "freerepublic.com" and search term "amish" returns a veritable plethora of actual Amish thread titles... *sigh*
I wonder if you are by chance working on an update to the 2009 FReeper Lexicon? There are plenty of things to add from the past half-dozen years, and while I'm sure you've added some of them to your FR profile page, it's still labeled as "2009"...
Not sure what the best way to spread it around more widely might be. Maybe we could get JimRob to put a link on the Home Page under Daily Threads (after all, that list has the "ZOT because we can" thread...)
As to the work of editing an updated version, I'd be willing to help if I may.
Thanks for all your work on the Lexicon! Best FRegards and God Bless.
He or she opus’d four years ago:

Oh, my, a religion flame thread. I guess I’m not surprised, but it’s unfortunate. I have to imagine it’s about four years too late to leave FReepmail offering to take over the Lexicon, but since no one else has done so, maybe I’ll just have at it and see how badly I get shot down. :)
Thanks for the heads up, and wish me luck!
Good luck!
Why not include Harpy or Harpies in the lexicon.
How about WIN10SUX :-)
> Good luck!
Thank you!! Wow, it's been 19 months, and my partially-edited "Revised 2015 Edition FreeRepublic Lexicon" still isn't done, and it'll have to become the 2016 Edition, or possibly the 2017 Edition the way things are going. Shortly after our last comments here, I started up a "Windows Ping List" for news and issues of interest to Windows users, and it's taken a fair amount of my available FReeping time, so progress on the Lexicon has suffered. But I'm not giving up! No, Sir!
LOL -- I suppose we'd have to have "{fill-in-the-blank}SUX" since there's a somebody who thinks each and every OS and other software sucks... But I have thought about adding some of the specialized techie lexicon that shows up on the Windows, Apple, Android, and Tech ping lists.
Thanks for the ping here... I'd almost forgotten my long-lost project to produce a new Edition of the Lexicon. Back into the fray!!
