If a person can’t afford a insurance plan how can they afford a fine for not having one

The fine is actually called a 'tax' in the Baucus bill so this could spin off a new government program to help people who can't afford to pay their taxes!!!

Then ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE..................

Yep. The lefts house of cards is falling. Socialism never works, but they're still fighting to survive by taking over every aspect of our lives they can get their hands on. They need cash - lots and lots of cash. The only way to do that is a total fascist take over of everything.
They know a complete communist society is the only way for them to save face, and keep their lives of luxury and power. If they fail, it's they who will be held accountable for all their Utopian promises.
Americans are fighting them off as much as they can, but even if the free American people win, the dependent democrat voters will still be left wanting and hungry.
What will happen then? Chaos. The political left will take the rest of the country down with it.

The way Baucus would have it would be to have IRS watch close for folks laid off in December. If that "ended" their medical coverage, IRS would tag them with the $3800 fine.

Something like that.

IRS has a number of "year end" or "end of year" rules so it'd be like old home week for them to enforce this one and tap the unfortunate first.

So typical of Democrats to go after the weak, the helpless, the unemployed.

Yep add to that the tax on “High Value” plans...

%35 tax on the value of the benefit if the cost of the plan exceeds $8000 for a single person.

That is not easy to surpass... Most employer subsidized plans easily exceed $8000 in value. Another way we are going to take it in the shorts. They expect this to raise another 200 billion in tax revenue.

How much is your freedom worth? Nothing the govt ‘offers’ is worth what you have to give up for it in freedom. The cost is far greater the diff between 6000 and 3800.

Socialism never works. The left wing control freaks are losing control. They need BIG money to feed the wanting base they've created.
Their base wants to feed - again. They have to steal money somewhere. Lots of money. So much money, they're going after every industry they can get their hands on; Housing, banks, insurance, auto, medical, energy, and now educational.
In order to keep their Utopian lie alive, they've got to confiscate every penny they can, because not only have they created a massive feeding base here, but they've promised U.S. manna to other countries around the globe. They all want to feed, and they're demanding their manna - now.

None of this is for the free American people. Follow the money. We're not saving anything. The taxpayers are getting poorer...... but the government is getting much richer. They've GOT to feed their wanting followers asap - or else!

Personally, I think the $3800 is just a calculated base price of insurance in the public option. For now...

Health insurance is no different than car insurance, life insurance, and home owners insurance. Those who want "just in case" insurance should buy it. Those who don't should pay their bills. Period. It's what they chose.

Those who can't afford health insurance, if they want it, should take on a second job or go back to school to get it.

Being forced to buy what other people "want" is nothing short of slavery.

"Needs", like food, clothing, and shelter for those are truly in NEED is one thing. WANT is another story.

Let’s assume this passes for a minute. Does anyone know where these annual fines would go? Would there be some sort of “Trust fund for the Shiftless” that the money would pour into and medical care be funded out of that? Or would the money go to pay for public option insurance, whether it paid for the entire premium or not?

Look, these folks are serviced by the health care industry right now, mostly through emergency rooms at private hospitals or by county health districts on a more regularized basis. Health districts usually assign them to payments based on their income.

If they have jobs, these private or local governmental entities collect from them if possible by every means available including collection agencies and lawsuits.

Since when is a “right” something you have to pay for if you don’t exercise it? What next, a fine for not reading the daily rag? How about a fine for committing suicide(life is a right)?

Some people are born stupid; others work at it all their lives. We call these people politicians.

Baucus just can't get over the idea that there are "Cadillac Health Care" programs out there that can be taxed.

Let's say you work in a high risk industry ~ you have a high priced health care package because, alas, you and your co-workers need to make use of it.

Perhaps you earn $120,000 per year. Your health care plan is equal to 50% of what you earn, or $60,000 per year. You pay 40% of that premium out of your income. SO, you pay a partial premium of $24,000, your company pays $36,000, and Baucus is going to tax you at the top rate applicable, about 30%, right?

. The math is pretty simple, 30% of the full premium of $60,000 is $18,000.

That $120,000 income you thought you had suddenly becomes $102,000, andyou have to pay a medical premium of $24,000 anyway which reduces your gross income before taxes to $78,000.

This is for a high risk job where the average employee has medical bills, over the long haul, of $60,000 per annum.

I really do think Baucus is a strange dude~
