But what's the STUDENT LOAN BILL?

In a few months are conservatives going to be bashing their reps for voting for a socialistic program?
The vote for the defunding of ACORN would have been the vote for the Motion to Recommit with Instructions. I haven’t read that actual motion yet (it isn’t anywhere I can find it on the Internet, yet).

Most of the Republicans that voted for the Motion to Recommit with Instructions also voted against the bill.

The bill is a complete takeover of student loans by the federal government. Some Dim Congress Critter was on cspan this morning explaining it. Paraphrasing his explanation here, "The banks have been allowed to make a profit on student loans, with the government taking all of the risks by guarantying the loans. We (the congressional dems) feel it necessary to take these profits away because the banks are taking none of the risk, and we can both 'invest' the profits in other eduction related programs, plus we can place 'service requirements' on the loans, requiring borrowers to perform community service or enter careers that serve communities which are currently in need of certain specialties or professions." This isn’t an exact quote, but that was the primary point of his explanation of this bill.

Further, section 505 of the bill allows the Secretary of Education to contract for the development of online training, including high school courses and post-secondary courses. I believe this marks a change in policy, now allowing the U.S. Department of Education to develop curriculum (or propaganda presented as curriculum) for high schools and colleges.

This was an evil piece of legislation, and it passed on a largely party line vote. Only 6 republicans voting for it, and only 4 Democrats voting against final passage.

The majority of the Congressional Black Caucus voted against the bill, but not all of the Caucus. I compared names on their site with the Nay votes.

It is too funny to see Pelosi saying she knew nothing about the ACORN scandal just this morning. Yesterday Charles Gibson NBC shill said he knew nothing about ACORN and was forced to report on the scandal later that evening.

One need only watch FOX, or listen to Beck, Rush, Hannity, Levin, and Ingram, or surf to FR or the blogs...and you will be able to understand the actions of the drive-by media, and the Congress before they know why they are doing it.

75 nays. Will be interesting to see who they were.

A simple photocell would detect many of them.

No objection at all!

I was simply responding to the numerous queries (including mine) of did they vote to defund or didn't they vote to defund...

that simple
