Thank God there is an ocean between the U.S. and Great Britain!

You mean you can get a SEX CHANGE operation for a pre-adolescent in Britain, but you can’t use (apparently) scarce medical resources to save a premie infant born 2 days too “early”??? How screwed up IS that country??

If the child is having sex reassignment at this late age, the school should carefully inform the other students about this. It probably won't save this poor child from years of ridicule, but most students won't freak out if told about it in a rational way.

The big question here is why the child would be having this surgery at this late age? If it's a real medical condition, then there's malpractice. If it's a parental decision that their kid is gay, then it's child abuse.

Lots of little boys and girls have interests outside of the typical boy or girl stuff, it doesn’t mean they want to actually become members of the opposite sex. They are children who are just beginning to learn about the world.

I was the youngest, and the only boy in the house. My two older sisters shared a room and did everything together. I felt really left out.

One day I began to wonder if I had been a girl, would I get to do more stuff with them. Five minutes later I found some really cool worms, big fat ones. I chased my sisters around the yard and threw the worms in their hair.

I bet if these "girly boys" were given a chance to act like boys they would want to maintain their factory installed equipment.

If the child really has a genuine issue they parents are negligent for creating a spectacle out of their child’s life. A real parent with the interest of the child in mind would take steps to be discreet about such a matter.

They would move to another town, and enroll the child in a different school rather than forcing all of the other kids to conform. This whole idea of making the other children have to deal will do nothing but make their child a target of ridicule and scorn from the other children.

Children are mean, that is because they are “Base Level” and they need to be taught civilized behavior. This poor kid, real issue or not is going to be torn apart like a lamb among wolves.

Just that aspect alone makes me want to slap the idiot parents.

The parents should really take a “wait and see” approach to this issue and maybe even see about delaying puberty a few years if that is possible for their child and maybe get a few dozen more second opinions before making a change to their child’s life that may be regretted down the road.

The parents and the government are engaged in extreme criminal abuse of this BOY.
