(Glenn)Beck speaks to 7,000 at Seattle: 'The American people have not surrendered'

In a sea of 7,000 fans, controversial TV and radio talk-show host Glenn Beck took his crusade to Safeco Field today, saying he is the voice of reason in a divided America.

"I am a flawed human being," said Beck, 45. "But I'm in a position to ring the bell of warning."

Beck, sponsored by the Evergreen Freedom Foundation, came to Seattle amid a torrent of anger over his proclamation on July 28 that President Obama was a racist and that he believed the president has a "deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture."

Outside the stadium, about 30 protesters rallied against Beck.

Beck didn't criticize Obama in his hourlong talk, and spoke more about how both political parties are flawed. "We send these people to Washington and they go crazy on us," said Beck, as his supporters cheered and waved yellow flags with the words "Don't Tread on Me."

When you take a first glance at his picture, he appears to be wearing a straight jacket. (That’s what caused me to notice the sweater).

I bet the “professor” would have difficulty changing a light bulb, digging a hole, or taking out the trash, let alone properly handling a firearm.

That’s a pretty good crowd. I didn’t think there were 7,000 conservatives in Seattle.

I agree with you, raybbr!

Also, remember Glenn’s show about the frog in the pot of water. With McLame, the pot of water would be slowly heating up and We The People (the frog) would not be so attentive to the socialist programs that he was approving. Whereas, with Obama boiling the water with his rapidly paced attempts to shove everything down our throats, the frog is now jumping out of the pot.

Glenn’s point about Mc being worse was that he would be moving much more slowly to take the country further into liberal land and we would not be as aware of the movement as we now are with Obama’s attempts.

Definitely. He’s still a left wing radical.

60’s student deferral no doubt.

First, don't misrepresent what Beck said. He didn't say that McCain-Palin would be worse for American than Obama-Biden. He said a McCain presidency would be worse for America than the Obama presidency.

His case is basically that many McCain policies are the same as Obama policies. Since McCain is a Republican, he could get these policies passed by splitting the GOP.

Obama has united the GOP against his policies. McCain would have split the GOP, as Obama as split the Democrats.

In any case, Beck has expressed his opinion. Why Republicans are jumping down his throat is beyond me? Why even get upset?

My God, those 30 must be something if they are more impressive than the 7,000.

It's called media math.

McCain has not — nor will not now support Conservatives any more than Obama has...

Sad truth...

Isn’t that the same guy who was cavorting in a parade, half naked, playing a flute and sporting an Obama logo on his belly?

In support of your comments... American Citizens are alarmed right now and want to have ‘DOERS’ not just talkers - and Glenn Beck is a DOER.

Glenn Beck along with Breitbart are big time ‘DOERS’-— results... ACORN blown out the water, NEA’s Yosi Sergant exposed and resigns, Van Jones forced to resign, the SEIU’s influence and ties with ACORN exposed in detail, Beck’s 9/12 Project involving real people in organizing for a solution - not just talking about it, heavy promotion of the Tea Parties, heavy promotion of the 9/12 March on DC, Heavy coverage and discussion of the Town Hall meetings...

Glenn Beck’s successes helped galvanize the March on DC... the ACORN revelations and Van Jones came out the week leading up to the DC Protest... The effect of those successes was palatable...

‘DOERS’ get the attention in these perilous times... and Glenn Beck is a big time DOER.

I like that find.

Do you have the Bible memorized?

There is a number that God sent into exile- I think it was the same exact number dead on 9-11: 3043.

Now I see why someone posted a Rush Limbaugh promotional thread.

Glenn Beck is coming on strong.

I love Rush and have been enjoying him for years but the “I love the GOP” fest cannot continue.

The ship of state needs a cleaning out and the GOP needs a cleaning out. Quick loss of freedom to bigger government or slow loss of freedom to bigger government are not options I will choose from.

The end of the process cannot be RINO’s being primary winners and conservatives expected to support them as the lesser of two evils.

Either we elect real conservatives in GOP primaries of vote for real conservatives who run as third party or independent candidates.

The GOP liberal business as usual crowd can either get out of the way or in no way expect my support.

“Do you have the Bible memorized?”

By the time I was about 29, I read the entire thing about 50 times; except for a brief period of time while I was in Austin, I haven’t been to church in over 21 years.

I can’t get it out of my head.

Don't know if it's already mentioned but the 6 pictures accompanying the article were anti beck and fox.

However, the ratio of attendees were 7,000 proBeck to 30 antiBeck. No wonder those papers suck.

You don't sound like a fan of McCain's. FWIW, neither am I. That doesn't mean its better for America to have Obama-Biden running the country and ramming cradle to grave socialism down our throats. I heard Beck's original remarks to Couric this week and his explanation the next day. It mirrors what you posted, but it was weak and lacking substance.

Bottom line. Since when did it become fashionable for conservatives to hope Democrats win, so in the end, they can then ultimately fail. With the GOP in a deep coma, I call that, dumb politics.

>>>>>McCain believes or agrees with about 75% of what Obama is doing.

That is pure hogwash and can't be taken seriously. I don't believe McCain or Palin support much of what Obama is doing. The record shows McCain voted for the TARP bailout and against Obama's $787-billion stimulus boondoggle. He also opposes the Dems plan for universal healthcare with a government option. Same for Palin. McCain and Palin are both pro-military, pro-spending reform, pro-tax cuts, for eliminating waste, fraud and abuse, pro-life and pro-gun. The complete opposite of Obama-Biden. IIRC, McCain agrees with Obama on cap&trade, along with amnesty and anthropogenic global warming. While Obama will not renew the Bush tax cuts, McCain thinks they should be extended beyond 2010.

Most importantly the GOP ticket from last November supports the Iraq and Afghanistan War's and backing our troops 110%! McCain-Palin would have governed as pro-America firts leaders in that regard.

Beck can't run around railing against Obama, calling him a liberal, a socialist, a Marxist, a racist and then make a statement like he did. He loses credibility and integrity. And he looks foolish.

You don't seem to care for Sarah Palin at all. Guess all that appeal and energizing of conservatives and traditionalists meant nothing to you. Guess Joe Biden would have been much better. LOL

I posted the truth! For your information, Palin gave the campaign a huge boost and saved McCain from a Goldwater level loss. She would have been a big power and influence as McCain's VP. So, when Beck says McCain Presidency, he's talking about McCain and Palin. Much better for America than Obama-Biden.

Obama may be uniting conservatives and traditionalists, but the GOP remains in a deep coma. Without an infusion of fresh leadership the GOP will continue to lose in 2010 and 2012.
