Republicans in the House have lost a bid to block the transfer of any detainees held at the Guantanamo Bay prison to the United States.

Instead, the House stood by a Democratic plan to allow suspected enemy combatants held at Guantanamo to be shipped to U.S. soil only to be prosecuted for their suspected crimes. President Obama has ordered the facility closed in January but has yet to offer a plan to accomplish that.

No. We had German POWs at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio in WW II.

It’s a violation of common sense in a time of mobile terrorists.

Well, I mean really, what kind of trial would it be
without screaming hordes of muslims and sympathetic
leftists, protesting out front?

We kept the captured prisoners in a legal twilight. We didn’t want to treat them as criminals with habeas corpus rights, rights to see their accusers, speedy public trials and the right to subpoena witnesses. Similarly we didn’t want to treat them as POWs because they weren’t part of a country’s army and various treaties get involved in how they are treated. When a judge said that there was no legal intermediate between POW and criminal prisoner, why didn’t most of them except for the very worst get moved to POW status? Since they have no country to demand them back it would essentially be a life sentence and we needed no evidence other than they made war against us and we captured them.

Lock and load. Protect your families.

Especially those of you in the towns and cities where these terrorists will be kept as the intimidation of the guards and their families will increase by a factor of a million. ie: be nice to Mohamed or else your kid won't make it to school tomorrow, or your wife will be raped etc.

And what happens when they’re found not guilty due a technicality and their country of origin won’t accept them back?

Yes, Deb. I can read. They’re impotent at this point in our political history.

But that’s fine. Just live your life as you see fit. :)

Soldiers on the battlefield out of uniform are shot as spies.

Exactly. We are ON OUR OWN as far as I’m concerned. The next attack is coming. It’s just a matter of time.

Absolutely NO ONE represents us these days in our Representative Republic.

I agree, but a judge here in the US didn't so now we have to choose between criminal or POW. POWs have fewer rights and chances for appeal than criminals.
