Wow. That is a big-time fire. I know that area a little bit. I would describe it as mixed-use, and not purely industrial. There are some high-rise condos and surrounding single-family homes in the area.

"“What I have is that it’s a plane, a plane, we are prepared,"

I hope they mean plan and not plane. I don't think a plane is going to be any help in this circumstance.

You can see smoke trails left by flying debris. That was a big one.

"Rum distillery? That stuff is flammable."

Distilleries, and sugar mills (which are frequently near by) have been the site of numerous and tragic explosions in the US and throughout the Caribbean.

sure, no prob...

“A potent explosion in the Gulf tanks at Cataño, felt throughout the entire San Juan metro area, has caused injuries in streets near the installation from the force of the expanding shockwave.

“What i have is that it was a small plane, a plane; we’re ready, said Wilfredo Diaz Romero, nightshift medical leader in the Medical Center emergency room.

Various cars which were transiting the area suffered broken windowns, which caused minor injuries to an undetermined number of drivers.

Sargent Jose Torres told the AP that because the explosion happened so recently, around 12:30 Friday morning, that nothing was really known yet about the extent or type of damages caused.

Around 1:00 AM, the area around the Guaynabo federal penitentiary, (also part of...) close to the Goya installations, was full of ambulances and police vehicles which were trying to open a path for many firetrucks approaching the location.

“We have wounded who were transiting the roads and are being treated at the present time”.

Authorities are not allowing press access because they didn’t exactly know what chemicals might have been released into the area.

___

That’s the meat of it, more or less - hope this helps.

JG
