It's time for Dick Cheney to leave (double bag Star-Ledger barf alert)
(Newark) New Jersey Star-Ledger ^ | October 24, 2009 | Star-Ledger Editorial Board

For Democrats everywhere, Dick Cheney is the gift that keeps on giving.

While Republicans are trying to distance themselves from the Bush era, Cheney is doing his damndest to keep that sorry legacy alive with television appearances and speeches before right-wing organizations nostalgic for the old no-compromise, neocon ways and paranoid about President Obama.

The guy just won’t get off-stage, a pariah who could become the GOP’s image, for which Democrats daily offer prayers of thanks.

[Snip]

Cheney is a scowling, snarly, angry and unattractive figure whose history in the White House — the bungled pursuit of Osama bin Laden, the bloody misadventure in Iraq, the illegal outing of CIA offer Valerie Plame (his aide, Scooter Libby, took the rap) — makes him the perfect foil. Who could ask for anything more?

Well, Republicans could. They wish Cheney would go back to the secure, undisclosed location he inhabited for most of his White House years. But no chance. He’s hell-bent on rescuing his ruined image even if he wrecks the GOP’s in the process.

Two questions:

1. Is Newark officially considered a ghetto or a slum?

2. Isn't Newark's distinguished newspaper of record teetering on the edge of bankruptcy?

I could answer your second question if I cared enough to find out whether they are bankrupt yet or not.

I don't.

I mean, what honest person anywhere would ever care what a bunch of whiny New Joizy editorialists think?

The answer to your first question is, yes.

Maybe Cheney learned not to "leave the stage" from Jimmy Carter and Bubba Clinton.

How can I miss them if they never leave???

I don’t get it. Creepy media types say the GOP has no leadership, no ideas, has lost its way etc etc. Mr Cheney, along with Glen Beck, Rush and a few others are out there using their bully pulpits (and I don’t mean in a bullying way of course) to provide leadership, ideas, and to distinguish the difference between left and right. Then they are vilified, told to shut up, and castigated for being forces of division. So it can’t be both ways.

Isn’t it amazing how in the past chief execs and their administration faded away. Again the Republicans have learned a lesson from the self absorbed Democtratic Admins., but again, the Dems don’t like thier tactics used against them. Cry to mommy!

OK, ok, let’s see if I have this right. The author herein says Cheney is “the gift that keeps giving to Democrats”. he is polarizing and is doing great harm o the Republican Party.

If this clown actually believes this to be true, then WHY would h want Cheney to go away? Would it not be in the best interests of the Left to encourage Cheney to continue to speak out and more loudly on more subjects?

What am I missing here?

Re the whining of the lib media. You don’t get it?

Look at it this way. It is said when you throw a rock into the Pig Pen an hear a squeal, you know you have hit a Pig.

How many of our soldiers will have to suffer because Obama is more interested in Democrat fundraising and being on David Letterman than in making a decision on Afghanastan?

Spot on. It doesn’t help the left as independents move away from Obama in droves.

Because of Cheney, Obama won’t be able to blame the coming terror attacks on Bush.

Go get them Dick!

Zero for three asshats! Osama is a grease stain on a rock, Iraq has been quieted (or as quieted as it probably ever will be) and you folks must have been absent the day Armitage was outed as the outer of Plame.

Better luck next time, boys...

“Look at it this way. It is said when you throw a rock into the Pig Pen an hear a squeal, you know you have hit a Pig.”

And when throwing rocks into this administration or the democrats pig pens, your definitely hitting communist piggies of the sort in “Animal Farm”.

“To speak with perfect candor,” I don’t even see why these clowns are going after Dick Cheney at all. The most formidable voice from the Bush Administration is Karl Rove. He was the first to identify Obama’s war against Fox News as the start of a Nixonian enemies’ list.

If this is true, why on Earth would they want him to go? Sounds to me like he is indeed a gift -- for Republicans.

Cheney makes republicans squirm because they are truly worms compared to him. Perhaps he can help republicans return to its CONSERVATIVE roots.
