Let the Landslide Begin

An early voting report from Virginia's 1st Congressional District, epicenter for today's expected GOP tsunami in the Old Dominion.

I reside in York County, not far from Fort Eustis and the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center. The district is heavily Republican; John McCain got more than 60% of the vote here last year.

Polls open in Virginia at 6 a.m. I arrived at my voting place (a local elementary school) at 6:45. The parking lot was 80% full at that hour, and more cars were arriving by the minute. The level activity seemed comparable to what I saw during the most recent presidential election, although I voted later in the day in 2008.

Outside the precinct, the GOP had two pollworkers passing our sample Republican ballots. Demand was heavy; by comparison, the Democrats had just one representative handing out their sample ballots. With the exception of a few African-American voters, there were virtally no takers.

Inside the polling place, there were 20 people ahead of me in line. However, the ballot is short (governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and one race for the House of Delegates), so the line moved quickly. I was out the door at 6:50 a.m. and by that time, almost 200 people had voted at this particular precinct.

Outside the school, signs for the Republican team (Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli) outnumbered those for the Democratic candidates by at least an 8-1 margin. However, this is a solidly Republican district, so you'd expect to see that sort of advantage for the GOP.

For all FReepers in VA: you know your mission for today. Get out and vote, and put the Old Dominion back in the GOP column. And while you're at it, say a prayer for Chris Christie and Doug Hoffman.

Virginia voters!!!!! Get out and vote for Bob McDonnell!!!! Whether you are a Conservative, Republican, Democrat Conservative or Independent conservative, GET OUT AND VOTE for Bob McDonnell and the entire McDonnell ticket. A huge McDonnell win will go a long way to help Virginia, and hurt our socialist POTUS, Barack Obama. Words mean little. Action speaks volumes. VOTE, VOTE Vote!!!

You’re projecting. Big time.

Keep telling yourself that. LOL

Speaking of ACORN, what has become of James and Hannah, there were to be even more tapes and revelations. I thought they were just getting warmed up on ACORN....

big-name conservative Republicans

You go right ahead and put your hope in "big names." Meanwhile, we'll keep working to raise up the true hope for this free republic: millions of no-names who love God, believe in America's self-evident truths, and who are willing to do what it takes to restore government of, by and for the people.

The problem for you, however, is that all of us little people have shown that working within the GOP for conservatism is what works too.

And don't feed me your fake populist garbage. You and I both know that if Sarah Palin was stumping for the "American Independence Party" or whatever you call yourself, you'd be ecstatic, and would raise more funds in a day than you've seen come in all year previous.

I would love to get all enthusiastic about all this "GOP tsunami" stuff, but I won't hold my breath.

Vigilence to hold these people accountable and remove the rino's is key right now. Beating democrats in an election is just icing on the cake, but we have to remove these wanker rino's before anything!

Well, now we know that in addition to “big names” you think money is what this is all about.

Just keep on projecting. The more Republicans talk the more we know about them.

You think “government of, by and for the people” is “populist”?

Get out and vote!

You got it! I'm retired so I'm going around 10am. Give the working folks a better chance to go in and out faster.

God bless Virginia Republicans for nominating such a great conservative Reaganite team at the top of their ticket.

People claim NC is now a “Blue State”.

Obama won NC by less than 25,000 votes. Barr got more than 25,000 votes and threw the election to Obama.

I make my fight in the primaries.

The GOP establishment stacks the deck against conservatives in the primary. If their liberal wins as they intend, they know they can count on you to stay on board. After all, you've already shown them that you will support liberals as long as they have an "R" by their name. If their liberal choice loses to a conservative who manages to overcome the rigged game, they simply pull funding and support.

You're playing in a rigged game.

South Carolina 2008 was an excellent case in point. SC State Republican Party was reprehensible in that rigged deal (debate).

Look no further for proof than DeeDee Scuzzyflava, or whatever the hell her name is.

What kind of good Republican loyalist not only endorses the Democrat candidate, but even makes robocalls on his behalf? Just ridiculous.

Let’s hear from NJ freepers — and stop the pessimism - Christie has at least a 50-60% chance and I believe he will pull it out - fraud or no fraud. BO has failed to move Corzine’s numbers and you can tell from the facial expressions that they are downright scared.

sorry no prayers for Christie (for his health yes, but not for some job).
Is that you Newt?

You don’t have a clue what you talk about. What does Newt have to do with the liberal Republican trying to get a job in New Jersey. I am trying NOT to get liberals elected and you the idiot are saying I am Newt who wanted a liberal for New York....go take a pill and get back on the program. Clearly you do not have a clue!!!!

When are Warner and Webb up for re-election?

They should be the next ones to be thrown out of office.
